The list of the first spring weekend events in Kyiv ramps up of different parties, performances and other happenings. After low-key winter season spring brings various festivals, concerts and fairs to the capital of Ukraine. «Destinations» rounds up the most interesting spring events in Kyiv.

Babylon Opera-Circus

Babylon Opera-Circus is a story of birth and death of metaphoric "tower". It is based on Biblical legend about conflict between man and God, extrapolated on urban tragedy of the modern city.
The mix of languages and people is transmitted by the mix of contrasting musical styles: avant-garde and pseudo-baroque, trip-hop and rock, shamanic folk and electronic techno, allusions to Italian opera and French chanson.
The opera’s libretto is based on Biblical texts (The Book of Genesis, Apocalypse) with allusions to Old Greek Mythology (the image of Cassandra) and present-day literary texts (Viktor Pelevin’s «Generation P»). The vocal part uses the texts of folk songs, Latin prayers, words and verbal constructions from 19 different languages (including Mongolian and Chinese).

Sklad HEighties: HINDÜ b2b Ro Rousseau

Divan Kyiv iconic party destination, located near Bessarabsky Market, was recently closed down to much regret of its many regular visitors. But the good news is that the venue has re-opened, it is now named Sklad (the warehouse) and is ready to host its first teaser party with an intriguing name HEighties: HINDÜ b2b Ro Rousseau.

Kurazh Bazar: Opening of the Season

Kurazh Bazar is the biggest and the most popular flea market and thrift fair in Kyiv. In March Kurazh Bazar opens the season of fairs with the major spring sale of old and interesting stuff, the fair of Ukrainian makers and brands, mini street food festival and charity projects of Ukrainian celebrities and socialites. This is a fun and friendly event to attend on spring weekend.

Pivnich: Dez Williams Party

Pivnich (North) is the series of parties starring popular international DJs. This time Closer, popular Kyiv night club, invites to attend the party headlined by the British producer and Elektronik Religion label founder Dez Williams.

Free Admission Day at Kyiv Public Transport Museum

Kyiv Public Transport Museum is the latest addition to the long list of capital’s museums. It doesn’t have much visitors yet, so Free Admission Day aims at attracting more guests who will have a chance to discover many interesting facts about the history of Ukrainian public transport. The exhibition offers over 100 items.
