Upcoming Concerts in March 2017

Spring is in the air, and so is International Women’s Day. What better way to treat the special woman in your life than a night on the town complete with live music? This March Kyiv offers a wide variety of concerts, from up and coming artists to some of the biggest names in music.

Mgzavrebi
If their name looks too intimidating to pronounce, it translates to “The Passengers.” This Georgian folk rock band hails from Tbilisi and quickly grew from only three members at the time of its founding in 2006 to fifteen musicians today. The band incorporates elements of traditional Georgian folk music and even classical elements in its songs.

Sonya Sotnyk
Sonya Sotnik is Ukraine’s number one female radio presenter and rock vocalist. Her debut album God Save the Queen was released in 2013 and several of its tracks became instantaneous hits. Apart from her musical career, Sonya has also actively worked to help displaced people from the war-torn Donbas region and given several charity concerts.

Jethro Tull
Hey Aqualung! The classic British blues-rock band is back and playing in Kyiv this March. Relive your youth with their blend of folk, classical, jazz, and rock melodies.

Sukhishvili Ballet
The Sukhishvili Ballet features 100 dancers and an orchestra. Witness the incredible techniques and rhythms of the traditional Georgian-style Lezginka dance while listening to fast-paced Georgian national music. If you have never seen Lezginka dancing before, you owe it to yourself to see it performed by Georgia’s best. Dancers leap, spin, and even simulate combat with short swords and shields.

Kevin Mahogany
Kevin Mahogany was called “the standout jazz vocalist of his generation” by Newsweek magazine. He got his start in his hometown of Kansas City, Missouri, where he honed his mighty baritone voice by learning from some of the greatest jazz artists in America. In addition to his signature voice, Mahogany also plays the piano, baritone saxophone, and clarinet. Even now he strives to innovate with jazz music in the 21st century.

Magical Music from Magical Cinema
If you’re the type of movie-goer who enjoys the score as much as the scenery of cinema, this is the concert for you. The Kyiv Virtuosos orchestra together with pianist Ruslana Yegorova will be performing iconic music from a variety of famous films such as Amelie, The Lake House, Forrest Gump, The Pursuit of Happiness, and many more.

When: March 19, 8 PM

Kozak System
Kozak System is a Ukrainian band with its own unique style of music that mixes traditional Ukrainian and Balkan elements with rock, punk, and ska. In addition to their one-of-a-kind sound, Kozak System has a reputation for putting on unforgettable live shows.
