Festival calendar is getting exceptionally busy with the arrival of spring and offers events for different interests and tastes. We round up the most significant Lviv Festivals in 2017 that will turn your trip to this beautiful Ukrainian city into even more exciting and fun travel experience. Lviv dwellers take Easter celebrations very seriously. So, basically Easter-themed events start the festival season in Lviv. Starting from April 1st and till April 23rd 2017 Museum Square in Lviv will host Lviv Pysanka Festival. This is a traditional Easter eggs exhibition showcasing various pysankas painted by popular artists, celebrities, politicians and socialites.

Pysankas are intricately decorated Easter eggs. The word «pysanka» comes from the verb «pysaty», “to write”. Creating pysanka is an extremely complicated endeavor and they are usually created during the last week of Lent. The smoothest and best-shaped eggs are used to make pysankas. A stylus is often used to ensure perfect clean lines and intricate patterns on the eggs. Pysankas are given to friends and loved ones to represent the gift of life, and are usually decorated to match the personality of the receiver.

For ultimate Easter fun in Lviv visit «Easter in Shevchenkivsky Gai» folk festival. It will be happening over the Easter weekend of April 16th and 17th. Here you can discover authentic Ukrainian Orthodox Easter traditions, listen to the oldest Ukrainian Easter songs called «gayivky» and taste traditional Ukrainian Easter food («paska» festive bread, roasted sausages and traditional liquors). Shevchenkivky Gai (Shevchenkivsky Gai, 1, Chernecha Hora street, Lviv.) is an open-air museum that displays different regional styles of farmsteads, windmills, churches and schools which dot a huge park to the east of the city center. If you are a beer enthusiast and happen to be in Lviv over the last weekend of April, don’t miss the Craft Beer and Vinyl Music Festival.
Showcasing specialty, seasonal and small batch beers from local, regional and national craft brewers, the centerpiece of the event is ticketed afternoon tasting passes where aficionados will be able to sample from more than 50 craft beers from over 20 brewers each afternoon.
The event will take place at iFest Republic (24-26, Staroznesens’ka street, Lviv) creative space, one of the best venues of this kind in the city, offering a nice view over Lviv, the spacious outdoor terrace.

To get all the jazz enthusiasts warmed up before the Alfa Jazz Fest, major Jazz event of Eastern Europe, Lviv will host Flugery Lvova (Lviv Vanes) jazz festival on April 29th - May 1st, 2017.
This is a well-established and beloved by locals ethno-jazz festival in Lviv. The festival has been gathering all the jazz enthusiasts, musicians and singers in Lviv since 2003. Flugery Lvova (which can be translated as Lviv vanes) will be traditionally taking place in the inner courtyard of Lviv City Council, more commonly known as Ratusha, located on Rynok Square.

Each year in early May Lviv grinds to a halt to celebrate the city's birthday. This year Leopolitans will be marking the city’s 761st anniversary and the party is expected to be loud and proud as always. This colorful festive action unites the dwellers of Lviv and its guests every year. It is a holiday of great entertainment traditions: impressive street theater performances, concerts and festivals.

Alfa Jazz Fest, the major jazz event not only for Ukraine but for the whole Europe, will be taking place in Lviv from June 23rd to June 27th, 2017. Again Lviv will be hosting the biggest jazz event of the year and it expects thousands of visitors and world famous musicians. Alfa Jazz Fest puts Lviv on the international musical scene as festival’s line-up is getting more and more impressive every year. All the headliners of 2017 Alfa Jazz Fest have not been announced yet, however, jazz fans anticipate some pleasant surprises.

Night tours became another popular tourist attraction of Lviv. The cultural life of the city continues deep into the night. The "Night in Lviv” festival is held twice a year. In 2017 it will be taking place in July and November.
First «Night in Lviv» Festival was held as a promotional campaign in 2011. Since then it has developed into a full-fledged festival. This will be the 11th «Night in Lviv» Festival and it will bring interesting and rich program to all the visitors: jazz concerts, open air movie night, cycle quests, themed excursions and walking tours.

LvivMozArt is the newest addition to Lviv busy festival scene. LvivMozArt is a festival of classical music and opera. Visitors will have a chance to enjoy concerts by famous European orchestras and opera singers. Besides concerts, the festival will offer a series of workshops and lectures for professional musicians, directors, actors and people who work in classical music and theater related spheres. LvivMozArt Festival will be taking place in Lviv from August 18th till August 25th, 2017.

Lviv Coffee Festival is a major food festival event of the year not only for Lviv, but for the whole Ukraine. Thousands of tourists come to Lviv specifically to attend this event. Numerous coffee shops and coffee brands take part in the festival. There are best barista, best coffee shop, best coffee blend contests and many more coffee-related events. Publishers and authors will flock to Lviv on the dates of September 13-17, 2017 for the Lviv Book Forum, an annual literature market and festival. In 2017, this will be the 24th Book Forum happening in Lviv. Founded in 1994, it gathers not only publishers, writers or readers, but also celebrities, sportsmen, famous politicians, educators, translators, journalists and is one of the most important social events of the season. Many new publishing homes and indie editorials are being presented here every year. Book Forum in Lviv is Ukraine’s largest event of this kind, combining book market, literary festival, and over a hundred of other various events featuring Ukrainian and foreign authors.
Lviv Book Forum is a dynamic and vibrant event that gathers thousands of guests and visitors every year.
