Hryshko National Botanical Garden

The National Botanical Garden was founded in 1936 and named after the botanist Mykola Hryshko. It occupies the territory of 120 hectares. The botanical garden can rightly boast a rich collection of tropical and subtropical plants from all over the world (including roses, peonies, magnolias, and lilacs). Here the visitors will be able to enjoy the beauty of 21 kinds of lilac and 350 kinds of orchids. The garden consists of several floristic complexes (such as Ukrainian Carpathians, Caucasus, Plains of Ukraine, Central Asia, Crimea, Western Siberia, Altai and Far East). If you love the nature, the Botanical Garden is an excellent place for spending time with your children and friends in fine weather.

One of the best ways to spend Easter holiday in Kiev is to make a boat trip along the Dnieper River. From the boat you will be able to see the most outstanding sights of the city (such as Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, Vydubytskyi Monastery, People’s Friendship Arch, Monument to Volodymyr the Great, and St. Andrew’s Church), admire the scenic landscape of the Dniper river, the third longest river in Europe, and listen to an English-speaking guide, who will tell you about the history of the city.

Kiev-Pechersk Lavra

This ancient monastery complex is considered to be ‘the second Jerusalem’. The Lavra was founded by Antony and his follower Feodosy in 1051. Nowadays it occupies the territory of 28 hectares. It will take you half a day to see all its sights. However, Lavra must-visit places are the famous caves with mummified monks and the Byzantine-style Dormition Cathedral built in 1089. If you visit Kyiv Pechersk Lavra on Easter Sunday morning, you will be able to observe how Ukrainian people celebrate Orthodox Easter.

National Opera of Ukraine

Being the third oldest in Ukraine, the National Opera of Ukraine was built in 1867. Today, the opera house is a cradle of Ukrainian culture. Its visitors can enjoy ballet or opera performances from all over the world in the heart of Kiev. It is located near Zoloti Vorota metro station. This place is the best choice for all music lovers.

Being the largest zoo in Ukraine, the Kiev zoo was founded in 1908. It is located downtown and occupies a huge territory of 40 hectares. It is a wonderful place for parents, and children, and romantic couples.
