Ukrainian Fashion Week, founded by Iryna Danylevska, the most famous person in the world of Ukrainian Fashion, was held for the first time in November 1997. It became the first professional fashion event in Eastern Europe. It is a unique event in Ukraine that entirely corresponds to the prêt-a-porter shows world standards. Twice a year, it gathers more than 40 participants, accredits more than 150 Ukrainian and international mass media and is attended by over 25000 guests every time.
In 2003 ‘New Names’ and ‘Fresh Fashion’ projects were founded as a part of Ukrainian Fashion Week in order to search for and support talented youth. During the time of existence, these projects provided continuous inflow of ‘new blood’ into Ukrainian fashion and developed UFW with a reputation of discoverer of emerging talents.

Numerous important projects are held every year under the guidance of Ukrainian Fashion Week: Best Fashion Awards (the First Ukrainian Awards in the field of fashion), Holiday Fashion Week (cruise collections and beach accessories shows that take place in Odessa) and Ukrainian contest of young fashion designers ‘Fashion Seasons – a Look into the Future. In addition, the world fashion stars attend Ukrainian Fashion Week: in different years, Elie Saab and Stephane Rolland presented their Haute Couture collections in Kiev.
