In 2015, 16 nominees were shortlisted by an independent Selection Committee from about 800 applicants under 35 for the PinchukArtCentre Prize. Each work was specially produced for the exhibition and forms an independent artistic statement.

The exhibition curator Tatiana Kochubinska said: “While forming the exhibition we were trying to track and show certain relations among some works. However, we are talking about 16 independent artistic statements, first of all, as each project is considered a self-contained show. Several general tendencies in artists’ works were discovered: they include an idea of interplay in art that requires a viewer’s direct interaction with the work, or, in some cases, obligatory engagement of a viewer leading to the artwork creation is needed. Also research was a main idea behind many works’ concepts: research of conflicts and social problems, informational wars reflections, thinking stereotypes analysis, self-, individuals and groups identification”.

Seven nominees represent new names of the Ukrainian contemporary art stage whose works have never been on show in the PinchukArtCentre before and the other nine have been nominated for the PinchukArtCentre Prize in 2009, 2011 and 2013.

The exhibition gives an insight into themes, concerns and new artistic tendencies of a young generation of artists confronted with life in a country in distress. The exhibition gives another chance to visit PinchukArtCentre, one of the best places for contemporary art in Kyiv.
