The cozy Opishnia village that lies an hour away from Poltava will host ‘Zdvyh-2018’ festival for the whole week from June 25 to July 1. As the event will take place on the territory of Museum of Pottery, it’s not surprising this trade will have the largest amount of themed zones — for instance, a traditional open-air exhibition showing off traditional ways of Ukrainian pottery that have been transferred from generation to generation.

‘Zdvyh-2018’ brings together past and present, that’s why apart from the historical part, visitors of the fest will have a chance to see more unusual ways of using clay, such as body painting on BodyCeramicFestUkraine. Besides, blacksmiths from all over the country will show off their skills in a grand show.

Visitors of all ages from kids to adults are welcome to participate in various workshops from pottery to decorating and even blacksmithing. Live performances of Ukrainian folk bands will brighten the festival’s vibe. Finally, a big ethnic-disco will take place on June 30 to gather everyone in a celebration.

Traditional Ukrainian Pottery Festival in Opishnia Village
The ancient Opishnia village located in Poltava region is often called the capital of Ukrainian pottery. That’s why it is not surprising that a celebration of Potter Day quickly grew into a massive festive event gathering potters from all over Ukraine in this small faraway dot on the map.
