Kyiv is a center of business and cultural life. And as every megapolis, it is rich in numerous modern cultural spaces where business people come to hold their meetings, and creative personalities can get their inspiration. Art-zavod Platforma is one of such places. The former silk factory has harbored under its roof various spaces for business, education, and creativity. A lot of concerts, workshops, fashion shows, and art exhibitions are held here all year round.
As time goes on, this largest cultural space in Kyiv keeps developing by launching new projects. And a cultural space AkT is one of them. Being inspired by the ArtWalk American event held monthly in Los Angeles, AkT is a place where it is possible to contemplate the artworks of different genres. This new cultural center was opened on the 10th of June, 2016. Alisa Yakubovich, an art curator, inspired the creation of this hub, and the Platforma kindly offered its premises for her first project: the art exhibition, which took place on the 10th of July 2016. More than 200 art objects (such as paintings, photos, and sculptures) from famous and amateur painters, and sculptors were exhibited to the public. In addition to Ukrainian artists, at the first exhibition one of the works of art was presented by Diego Miguel, Brazilian designer living in Ukraine.
After the successful launch of the first exhibition the AkT team intends to launch 4 new exhibition projects, June to October in 2017. The main goal of these upcoming exhibitions is to allow Ukrainian artists, sculptors and graphic artists to showcase their works of art. All the exhibitions will represent artworks in various genres and themes.
The first planned exhibition, ‘20.18. Reflections about Tomorrow’, will take place from June 9 to 14th July 2017. The leitmotif of the upcoming event is: ‘The future and the impact of virtual reality on the real world’. A mix of graphics, painting, photography, and installation reflecting the possible future of Ukraine in 2018 will be represented at this exhibition. Both professional and amateur artists from all over the country will be able to take part in this new project. All artworks must be submitted by May 15th.
After the futuristic exhibition, 3 other projects will be launched later this year. The AkT team has planned to launch the ‘Fetish x0’ project about the illusory nature of contemporary values, the ‘PhotoJuly’ photo exhibition, and the presentation of project works created by the students of the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture.
The main aim of the Art-zavod Platforma is to instill aesthetic taste to its visitors. All the guests of the art exhibition will be able to get acquainted with the creativity of contemporary Ukrainian artists and sculptors already in June 2017.
