Tetyana Yablonska at National Art Museum
National Art Museum in Kyiv presents the exhibition dedicated to celebrated Ukrainian artist Tetyana Yablonska. Tetyana Yablonska (1917 – 2005) is one of the most famous Ukrainian painters. Her early works are devoted to everyday life of Ukrainian people. She has passed to generalizing images of nature, differing a subtlety of plastic and color rhythms. She worked very productively until the very end of her life, reportedly painting her last pastel etude on the very day of her death.
Yablonska was awarded the honorary title "Peoples' Artists of the USSR" in 1982, "Artist of Year" (UNESCO) in 1997, "Woman of Year" (International Biography Centre, Cambridge) in 2000. She was the winner of the USSR State Prize (Stalin prize: 1949, 1951 and State Prize: 1979), and the winner of the Shevchenko state prize of Ukraine (1998). Her works were showcased at the exhibitions in London, Paris and Venice Biennale.

Exhibition of 21 Artists Shortlisted for the Future Generation Art Prize 2017
On February 25, 2017 the PinchukArtCentre (Kyiv, Ukraine) presented an exhibition of the 21 shortlisted artists for the fourth edition of the Future Generation Art Prize, the first global art prize for artists up to 35, founded by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation in 2009. The show focuses on the presentation of newly produced works giving a remarkable view on the most actual artistic positions of a next generation of artists.
The exhibition engages with the complexities of the contemporary world and investigates the possibilities of art within it. Balancing between personal and collective, imaginary and real, familiar and uncanny, the show invites the visitors to set off the captivating journey through wide range of ideas that absorb the artists today.
The show will encompass the diverse works developed in a variety of media and formats, such as site-specific interventions, sculptures, interactive installations, performative gestures, videos, text- and sound-based projects.
20 shortlisted artists have been selected from more than 4400 coming from 138 countries, divided over all continents. The shortlisted artists were chosen by an international Selection Committee. The Open Group from Ukraine were automatically nominated to the shortlist as winners of the PinchukArtCentre Prize 2015, a national contemporary art prize awarded to young Ukrainian artists up to the age of 35.

Volodymyr Budnikov: Measure of Time at Voloshyn Gallery
Voloshyn Gallery (13, Tereschenkivska street, Kyiv. Entrance Arch, 2nd Yard) presents the Measure of Time solo exhibition of paintings by Volodymyr Budnikov. The paintings presented at the show were created in 2011 in Gurzuf (Crimea), when the artist also worked on metal sculptures.
The works of the Measure of Time exhibition offer an organic combination of color planes and precise brushwork that seems to have been inspired by Japanese calligraphy. They feature pronounced borders, the rhythm and contrast of simple shapes, and monumentality. All works are united by Budnikov’s characteristic restrained palette. Budnikov is ascetic in his color sensibility. He adds a color accent or two to the sophisticated black-and-white weave of the whole. The line between painting and drawing is rendered permeable, he explores the media specificity of both, mixing their respective artistic means, expressive lines and the wash of color, strokes and brushwork texture.
Volodymyr Budnikov was born in 1947 in Kyiv. He graduated from the T.H. Shevchenko Republican Art School in 1965. Studied at the Kyiv State Institute of Art (the workshop of Tetyana Yablonska) in 1965-1971. A Merited Artist of Ukraine, Budnikov is a professor at the National Academy of Visual Arts and Architecture. In 1998 he was announced the Artist of the Year and received the Golden Ratio Prize at the III International Art Festival in Kyiv. Budnikov’s works can be seen in museums in Kyiv, Dnipro, Zaporizhia, Chernihiv, Berdiansk and Sumy, as well as in public and private collections in Austria, Germany, the USA, Japan, France and the Baltic countries. He lives and works in Kyiv.

Museum Collection Treasures Exhibition at Modern Art Museum
Kyiv Modern Art Museum (41, Kyrylivska street, Kyiv) presents the exhibition of contemporary Ukrainian art consisting of works by 79 artists ranging from late 19th to early 21st century.
Museum of Modern Art of Ukraine was founded in 2005 in Kyiv in order to collect, preserve, explore and promote Ukrainian art of the ХХ – ХХІ centuries. Today it is the biggest collection of Ukrainian Modern and contemporary art in the country.
The exhibition will be open till April 24, 2017.
