Opera House in Kiev was constructed by Victor Schroeter, the outstanding architect, at the intersection of two busy roads in 1901. Today the National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre named after Taras Shevchenko owns ballet and opera troupes, as well as a symphonic orchestra. Repertoire of the theatre includes creations of Lysenko, Chaikovskiy, Borodin, Verdi, Puccini, Adan, Leonсavallo, Rimskiy — Korsakov, Mussorgsky and many other world-known composers.
