MykhaiIo Tymchuk describes his painting as letters to God. He believes that people should always keep their heart open for love, faith and hope. There is no meaning in life without it. These days many contemporary artists create works that reflect ongoing wars, violence, distortion and rarely leave place for depicting genuine kindness and love as they think this is not relevant.
Since his childhood Mykhailo Tymchuk liked to create sacral-themed paintings. When asked whether these are icons, the artist says that his works are created to honor and mention God to people who are looking at the painting. These paintings don’t aim at creating the cult of worship, as conventional icon art does. Art must carry a certain information. Each artist finds the way to send his information to audience through his/her artwork. Mykhailo Tymchuk paints icons concentrating on the spiritual meaning of the image.
The trees in Tymchuk’s art symbolize life, the origin of the whole world. The crown of trees in a circle is a symbol of peace and life.
