New Tourist Tax for Travellers in Ukraine 2019

At the beginning of 2019 Kyiv City Council approved new rates of tourist tax in the city for this year, as it is reported on its website.

The fee will be charged both from foreigners and from domestic tourists in Ukraine. Tourist tax is now 0.4% for Ukrainians and 1% for foreigners. The amount of tax is related to the minimum salary in Ukraine for 2019. Tourist tax will be about 16 hryvnias per day for Ukrainian tourists and 41 hryvnias - for foreigners.
According to Anton Taranenko, the head of the Department of Tourism and Promotions of Kyiv City State Administration, in 2018 1 million 930 thousand foreigners visited the capital of Ukraine as well as nearly 3 million domestic tourists.

According to Mr. Taranenko, for the third year the guests of Kyiv come from these top-4 countries: Israel, Belarus, the USA and Germany. Asia, the countries of the Middle and Far East (China, India and the UAE) are developing very dynamically in terms of their touristic interest to Ukraine.
The Champions League final 2018 has almost doubled the number of tourists from Spain. There are about 5% more tourists from Europe than from CIS countries in Kyiv.
Kyiv City Council expects that the tourist tax in Ukraine will bring 150,000,000 hryvnias to the city budget, if the number of tourists who visit Kyiv remains at the level of 2018. Last year the tourist tax replenished the budget of the capital of Ukraine by 33 million hryvnias.
