Recent years Podil became the hipster downtown of the city with booming cultural and night life, with modern galleries, art spaces, restaurants and bars. There is no surprise that BURSA Hotel Kyiv is located here.
There are 33 cozy bedrooms in this small hotel. BURSA Hotel Kyiv is carefully designed by 2B.group architectural burro by Slava Balbek. It is not only piece of architectural art but highly functional place that meets all the needs, yet it remains simple and unpretentious. The team of dedicated, kindhearted professionals is available 24/7 here.
The BURSA name was inspired by two references. In the 17th century, student accommodations or student communes in France were called “bursas”. The same was true in Ukraine. Bursas were homes for the students of Kyiv Theological Academy — the “Bursaky” would get modest rooms to live and study in for free, in return for their academic efforts. Every year, BURSA Gallery will host multidisciplinary artists on a non-commercial basis and give them an opportunity to create and exhibit their art inside BURSA.
According to the second reference, in the USSR, “bursas” referred to educational institutions that prepared people for practical professions such as carpentry, glassblowing, etc. At BURSA, they liken the USSR’s bursas to the school of Bauhaus — a school that has revolutionized the modern approach to craft, art, and design, and in doing so has changed the world’s history, made a world a little more comfortable, smart and simple.
The goal of the hotel’s team is to change the world by hosting people from all around the globe, providing them with care and comfort, and supporting young artists. Two simple words guide them down their path: art and love.
