KOLO was opened in summer 2017 by Kateryna Partsevska and Andrey Gontovoy, who is also the founder of 13beans chocolate brand. The owners of KOLO say that their main purpose was to create a mono cuisine restaurant to unite people with the same views and values and to find new friends. KOLO team supports the concept that meat-free dishes cooked using minimal treatment of ingredients may be very delicious, nutritious and healthy.

KOLO restaurant is located on Podil in a 150-year old building, which is considered as an architectural monument of the mid XIX century. The architecture of this two-storey building keeps to classicism style, and its planning, with wooden staircase and cozy inner yard, typical for 1850s-1860s. The sign of the restaurant is made in the minimalistic style, so it does not conflict with authentic look of the old façade. A bench and beautiful trees inside the yard create a great atmosphere for Instagram photo shots.

Design of the restaurant, created personally by the owners, combines minimalism and authentic beauty of the old building. Bright yellow doorway and window openings make an interesting contrast with 100-year old brick walls. A massive arch, much fresh greenery and other interesting elements add finishing touches to the unique ambience of the place. Yellow lamps on the ceiling, soft grey sofas and chairs with middle-sized wooden tables make you feel like at home. The hall of KOLO restaurant holds 20–25 guests, and a small summer terrace provides space for few more visitors.
Menu
Well-balanced and laconic menu of KOLO delights guests with many gastronomic wonders created by chef Kateryna, who has great experience in cooking different vegan dishes by modern Western recipes. The restaurant offers self-made hummus, vegan cheese and numerous sauces with microgreens. Here guests can try tasty soups such as beet-root soup with vegan cream; lens soup; soup with broccoli and beans; nutritious Mexican soup with beans. As for breakfasts, it is recommended to taste oatmeal with chia seeds, species, fruits, berries and agave syrup instead of sugar. The fans of raw cuisine will enjoy raw spaghetti with zucchini and pesto sauce, and raw spring rolls with Chinese cabbage, carrot, cucumber, black beniseed and microgreens. Ordering a vegan burger with spinach roll, hummus, tofu, cashew cheese, a bruschetta with non-yeasted bread, vegan cheese, corn or a “Pekin” roll with tofu grill, hummus and rose sauce will also be a great choice. The menu of KOLO also offers wide choice of appetizing desserts such as unusual mélange chocolate. Talking about drinks, we should surely mention ginger and strawberry lemonade, many tasty teas such as Match tea and Oolong, cocoa, milk shakes and coffee with almond and coconut milk.
People aged between 24 and 40, who are interested in yoga and esoteric, are frequent guests of KOLO restaurant. However, the owners notice that the dining spot is visited not only by vegans, but mostly by people who just enjoy the taste of unusual healthy food in KOLO. KOLO offers its visitors not only delicious dishes, but also interesting events: live concerts, workshops and so on. The restaurant also has delivery service, which is free in Podil district and costs UAH 50 in other districts of the capital.
