Vegan City Project in Kyiv

Vegan City Project in Kyiv

Times when vegetarians and vegans had to cut on their social life and make all meals at home luckily are going into past. Numerous large cafes in cities realize the needs of their customers and slowly but surely add more vegan and raw dishes. These days, Kyiv is no exception — especially with the oncoming Vegan City project, aimed at popularization of vegan and vegetarian menu in city's fine dining spots.

Up to date, two million people in Ukraine have chosen to abstain from animal products. The number is growing daily, as more and more citizens educate themselves on ecological aspect of vegetarianism: factory farming produces more CO2 than all means of transport combined. The ethical side doesn't escape people as well, from animals suffering on farms from usually poor conditions to the aspect of killing itself.

Ukrainian supporters of the movement decided to create an online platform, where users can share their views, learn more and find appropriate fine dining spots — all in Vegan City project. The aim of the project is to popularize vegetarianism and veganism, including encouraging of restaurants and cafes to add a respective section in their menu.
People will be able to find such restaurants at Vegan City Family — an interactive map which shows all vegetarian and vegan spots in Kyiv and their menu. Moreover, the site will have its own chat bot, created to book the desired restaurant. Besides, Vegan City Family will post ecological and healthy recipes from the chef of the project.
The initiative launches in March, and about 30 Kyiv restaurants and cafes have agreed to participate already.
