Airlines News Digest: July 2018

The second month of summer has just begun but is quite bountiful: numerous airlines announced new flights from Ukraine to different parts of the world from Western Europe and Asia to the exotic Caribbean. Let’s check it out.

After the exciting news and available tickets booking, low-cost airline Ryanair announced the launch of one more flight to Poland — from Kyiv Boryspil Airport to Bydgoszcz. The flights will operate two times a week and will start from October 31. Tickets are already available for sale.
Another popular low-cost airline Wizz Air has serious plans as to its expanding on Ukrainian market: we are promised eleven new flight directions by the end of the year. The beginning of summer has already brought several additions: Kyiv — Lisbon (flights on Tuesdays and Saturdays), Kyiv — Tallinn (on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays) and Kharkiv — Katowice (on Wednesdays and Sundays).

Wizz Air now also operates Kyiv — Berlin and Kyiv — Frankfurt flights four times a week and starting July 15 it will be done daily. Besides, the company plans to launch daily Kyiv — Vienna flight from October 28.

To talk about Wizz Air, make sure you are familiar with the new hand luggage policy. According to the company’s press release, only passengers with Wizz Priority will be able to bring their hand luggage on board. Other passengers will have to put their belongings in the cargo hold compartment and collect them at the baggage belt on arrival. There is an exception to the rule — if your hand luggage is smaller than 40x30x18 cm, it can be taken to the cabin.

Summer 2018 brings more ways to connect with Italy — low-cost Ernest Airlines launched direct flights Lviv — Rome (Fiumicino) and Lviv — Milano (Malpensa). The flights will operate three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Turkish airline Atlasglobal has launched a new flight Odesa — Istanbul that operates four times a week on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. Price for a round-trip ticket starts at USD 145. Luggage is included in the fee.
As for local airlines, the newcomer SkyUp will launch flights to Barcelona, Larnaca and Batumi from different cities in Ukraine. Starting July 2018, the company will also add regular internal flights from Kyiv to Odesa and Kharkiv with ticket price starting at UAH 500.

This winter promises to be hot thanks to Ukrainian International Airlines that announced new charter flights to exotic destinations: Thailand (Krabi), India (Goa), Dominican Republic (La Romana), Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh) and China (Hainan). Booking tickets will be available from July 10.

Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa and Swiss Airlines have a special offer for tickets to Seattle from Kyiv, Odesa and Lviv. Price for round-trip tickets for flights in October and November 2018 starts at USD 437. Luggage is included in the fee.
Those who like to plan trips beforehand might be interested in a special offer from Ukrainian Airlines — price for round-trip ticket to Rome from Kyiv and Lviv in May and June 2019 starts at EUR 68. Hand luggage up to 7 kilograms is included in the fee.
