As usual, January is the peak season of winter holidays and festivals in Ukraine. Thousands people all around the country celebrate New Year and Christmas and have lots of fun in all possible ways. Christmas fairs, historical festivals, music concerts and many other interesting events wait for everyone! New Year Fairy Tale Program in “Kyiv Rus” park near Kyiv

In the historical park “Kyiv Rus”, guests will enjoy a great variety of unique festive locations and activities. The list includes opening of Santa Claus` residence, carnival of fairy tales, theatre performances, fire show, stunt horse riding theatre performance, fights with medieval weapons, riding horses and sledge riding, archery in medieval shooting gallery and many other. During the events, guests will have a chance to hear the ancient language of Slavs who lived in Kyiv Rus. Everyone is invited to taste perfect kutya and uzvar along with delicious sausages and barbecue cooked on an open fire. Christmas Music Festival in Odesa

Christmas music festival in Odesa, held for the 7th time in 2018, is a traditional forum of classic music that annually presents exclusive music programs. The festival will start on January 11, 6:30 PM with “Shining of Christmas Holidays” organ concert. Well-known musicians will perform famous masterpieces of Handel, Bach, Mozart, Saint-Saëns, Tchaikovsky and Rossini. On January 12, 6:30 PM, on «Viva Vivaldi» concert listeners will hear many inspiring melodies written by the great Italian composer. Gala-concert “New Year Ball” will take place on January 12, 6:30 PM; the program includes arias from popular operettas and musicals, fragments of classic ballets, music from favorite movies, merry polkas and waltzes. On January 14, 12:00, guests are welcome to the presentation of “The Mermaid” children ballet.

Christmas in Gai Festival in Lviv

The big “Christmas in Gai” celebration is a traditional time when Lviv families and numerous guests of the city get together to spend Christmas holidays in a merry atmosphere. As usual, historical houses of Shevchenkovsky Gai park will host various master-classes and Christmas fairy tales readings. Everyone interested can join “kolyaduvannya” ritual (singing Christmas carols going from home to home). Here you can learn to cook traditional Christmas meals of Ukraine, taste some freshly baked bread, honey kutya and uzvar drink.

Malanka Fest in Chernivtsi

According to Christian calendar, 13th of January is the day of Melania, and traditional celebration of this holiday is called “Malanka”. This year, Malanka fest will take place in Chernivtsi for the 7th time. The purpose of this unique event is to revive authentic traditions of Bukovina folk celebrations and to create special image of Chernivtsi oblast, which is known for its authentic culture. Many folk bands, lots of young creative people will take part in the event. A big carnival procession will take place in the central streets of Chernivtsi, and all locals and guests are welcome to take part in it. The talented participants will surprise audience with unusual looks, music and theatre performance, great sense of humor and fresh ideas.

“Winter Fairy Tale” Christmas Fair in Ivano-Frankivsk

The main purpose of festival fair “Winter Fairy Tale” in Ivano-Frankivsk is to popularize folk crafts and arts, to promote authentic souvenirs and natural food of Carpathians. The guests of the fair will be delighted by the bright holiday illumination of the central streets and the main Christmas tree with many colorful lights and 3D technologies. Apart from buying perfect New Year and Christmas gifts and tasting hot drinks and delicious meals, visitors will be able to take beautiful pictures in special photo areas.

Chervene Wine Festival in Mukacheve

Chervene Wine festival and contest was established in 1995. This event is annually held on Saint Basil`s day (January 14). The festival attracts many locals and guests from all over the country as well as from abroad. During the event, everyone will enjoy performances of the well-known folk music bands from Zakarpattya, Nativity scenes, singing “kolyadky” (Christmas carols). Traditionally, an international wine conference will be held here. The list of conference participants includes many honored foreign guests, winemakers and sommeliers from Hungary, Austria, Slovakia, Moldova, Croatia.
