June 2017 Movie Premiers

June is a month small on releases but big on spectacle, with each week dominated by a major blockbuster. The month kicks off as Wonder Woman establishes herself as the first critical success story for the DC Comics shared universe, before The Mummy seeks to establish another. The Transformers then return for more shrapnel-filled explosions. Here's what you'll be watching in the weeks ahead.

Wonder Woman

After 75 years, DC's premiere female superhero finally gets her own movie, with Gal Gadot bringing the Amazon Princess to life. Following her introduction in Batman v Superman, this solo effort explores the origins of Diana of Themyscira, who leaves her mythical, all-female island home when US Airman Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) brings the horrors of the First World War to her shores.

The Mummy

Universal reboots its Mummy franchise with this big budget adventure pitting Tom Cruise's archaeologist Nick Morton against Sofia Boutella's Princess Ahmanet – the mummy in question, an ancient Egyptian princess with an unquenchable thirst for power.

Hunter's Prayer

An assassin is sent to kill a young woman but finds himself unable to pull the trigger. They form an uneasy alliance and flee from their pursuers.

Rough Night

Five best friends (Scarlett Johansson, Jillian Bell, Zoë Kravitz, Ilana Glazer, Kate McKinnon) from college reunite 10 years later for a wild bachelorette weekend in Miami. Their hard partying takes a hilariously dark turn when they accidentally kill a male stripper. Amid the craziness of trying to cover it up, they're ultimately brought closer together when it matters most.

Cars 3

Blindsided by a new generation of blazing-fast cars, the legendary Lighting McQueen finds himself pushed out of the sport that he loves. Hoping to get back in the game, he turns to Cruz Ramirez, an eager young technician who has her own plans for winning. With inspiration from the Fabulous Hudson Hornet and a few unexpected turns, No. 95 prepares to compete on Piston Cup Racing's biggest stage.

Transformers: The Last Knight

Michael Bay is back – for better or worse – with his fifth Transformers movie, this time tying the Robots in Disguise into Arthurian legend. This chapter also looks to reveal why the warring Autobots and Decepticons are repeatedly drawn to Earth, an attraction that's apparently been going on far longer than we imagined.

Snatched

Dumped by her boyfriend on the eve of their vacation, impetuous dreamer Emily Middleton persuades her cautious mother, Linda, to accompany her on an exotic getaway to South America. Polar opposites, Emily and Linda must soon work through their differences to escape from a wildly outrageous and dangerous jungle adventure.
