Expocenter of Ukraine
Expocenter of Ukraine located near the Vystavkovyi Tsentr metro station will traditionally become a major Christmas celebration spot in Kyiv. Starting December 9, the large entrainment park will begin working on the premises of Expocenter of Ukraine.
This winter season kids and adults will traditionally have a chance to go ice skating on one of the biggest ice rinks in Kyiv. In daytime, it will be decorated with numerous multi-colored stripes, and with glimmering Christmas lights in the evening. The admission to Expocenter of Ukraine is free. As for the complex ticket to Zymova Kraina ("Winter Country") entertainment park, it costs UAH 390 and includes admission to the ice rink, tubing slides, the Castle of ice sculptures, city residence of the famous Christmas tree factory “Klavdievo” and the exhibition of ancient creatures “Ice Age”.
Dream Town
Dream Town shopping mall located near the Obolonska and Minska metro stations is one more popular ice skating location in Kyiv. The mall's ice rink is located on the 3d floor of Dream Town 1. The most convenient way to reach it is the mall's central entrance from the side of the Minska metro station. The ice rink can host up to 120 people, so it's spacious enough for pros and rookies. Around the rink, you will find numerous cafes to relax after the skating session.
The rink works all week long from 8 A.M. to 11.30 P.M. The last session starts at 10.30 P.M. As for the prices, much depends on the weekday and time. The cheapest tariff is 8-9 A.M. - an hour on all weekdays and holidays will cost UAH 30. The price raises starting from noon and climbs to the maximum of UAH 80 from noon to 10.05 P.M. on weekends and holidays. There are discounts for kids aged up 12 and pensioners. Kosmopolit
Kosmopolit shopping and amusement center is located near the Shuliavska metro station. The first floor of Block A hosts another large Kyiv ice rink - Ice Arena. The arena has four massive columns, covered with a soft elastic material, especially convenient for rookies - the columns can help you slow down while slipping and avoid collisions.
The ice rink in Kosmopolit works the whole week long from 8 A.M. to 12 P.M. In case you want to hire an instructor, it's possible here for UAH 150 per 45 minutes. There's also a chance to sharpen the skates for UAH 80 and purchase an additional pair of warm socks for UAH 20.
Like in many other ice skating rinks, the price depends on a weekday. The cheapest option for adults is 8 A.M. - 10.30. A.M. slot on Mon-Fri where an hour costs UAH 70. The price climbs as high as UAH 90 throughout the day. On weekends and holidays, an hour of skating costs UAH 100 regardless of the time of the day. Ice Arena Terminal
An out-of-town option is Ice Arena located in the Terminal shopping and amusement center in Brovary town. The drive from the Kyiv downtown will take about half an hour with usual traffic. The local ice skating rink is quite large and is often used to host hockey matches or events. Ice Arena has a skate rental, sharpening (UAH 65) and socks (UAH 20). A training session with an instructor will cost UAH 130 per 45 minutes.
The price for an adult ticket into the rink starts at UAH 90 per hour (from 9.30 A.M. - 4.30 P.M. on Mon-Fri and 5 P.M. - 7.30 P.M. on Mon-Thu). On weekends and holidays, an hour on the ice rink costs UAH 110. The admission for kids is UAH 80 on Mon-Fri and UAH 90 on weekends and holidays. Taras Shevchenko Park
In 2018, Rafaello will install a round ice rink in Shevchenko Park located right in front of the Red University Building of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Visitors will be surrounded by numerous romantic photo and lounge zones. Besides, the rink will be illuminated and filled with the sounds of Christmas tunes.
The rink will be opened daily from 11 A.M. until 9.30 P.M. The admission is free - all you need is to leave a safety deposit of UAH 300 or an ID. Note that taking your own skates to the rink is not allowed.
Kontraktova Square
Traditionally, an ice rink is installed on Kontraktova Square on Podil on Saint Nicholas Day, December 19. The rink will be surrounded by Christmas market stalls where visitors will have a chance to grab a bite and enjoy mulled wine after the skating.
