Vilkovo
The small town of Vilkovo in the south of Odesa region is called the "Ukrainian Venice".
The town is located just at the place where the Danube River flows into the Black Sea, this is zero kilometer. People move around the city in boats and Ukrainian gondolas. Here you can agree a "cruise" for UAH 250 per hour. The Old Church of the Nativity of the Holy Mother of God, located in the center of Vilkovo, is also one of the places to visit.
How to get there: If you go to Vilkovo from Odesa, the buses run from the bus station regularly.
Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi fortress
Akkerman the medieval fortress is located on the bank of the Dniester estuary in the most ancient city of Europe - Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi.
The city was founded in the 6th century BC. The fortress is its main attraction, one of the largest and best preserved fortresses in Ukraine. It was built on the site of the ancient city of Tire. The construction of the citadel was done within the Genoese period of the XIII-XIV centuries.
The total length of the walls is 2 kilometers. The height of the walls and towers -from 5 to 15 meters. Sometimes there are various festivals. So you can come specially for one of them and have a great time.
How to get there: a car ride of 84 km from Odesa takes half an hour. You can also get from Odesa by train, the road will take 2 hours and 33 minutes. You can take a bus from Odesa as well.
Country of Roses
It is worth going to the republic of roses to see and to feel this beauty.
There are about 22 varieties of roses on 22 hectares of land. The country is not far from Petrovka - in the village of Kirovo, Kominternovsky District. The collection of flowers is based on the best examples of roses - medalists of international exhibitions. The flavor here is simply wonderful, as well as the views.
When roses do not bloom, you can always come here to visit the mini-museum, as well as to buy herbal tea, jam, liqueurs made from medicinal and aromatic plants.
How to get there: Kirovo village is located in 40 kilometers from Odesa. The best way to get there is to find a car through blab la car service.
Estuaries
In the region there are Kuyalnitsky, Khadzhibeysky and Tiligulsky estuaries.
A trip to one of them can be a great option for a weekend around Odesa. On the Khadzhibey Estuary, you should visit the fish market and arrange the picnic. O other estuaries you can get therapeutic mud, appreciate salt landscapes, watch the birds and make wonderful photos.
How to get there: by car at Nikolyiv highway and the bypass roads.
Shabo
This is the only center in Ukraine that combines the existing high-tech enterprise, ancient wine cellars, a tasting room, expositions of modern sculptural and architectural art, as well as a unique Museum of wine and winemaking.
This is the best way to get acquainted with the best Ukrainian wines and relax.
Getting there: the route runs through Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi. From there take a minibus number 5, it goes to Shabo directly.
Devil Canyon and the Radon lake
It is a small site of the Mertvovod riverbed in Voznesensky region of the Nikolayiv oblast. Here you will find not only a beautiful canyon, but also bizarre forms of granite outcropping, a source of radon-enriched water, baths in a river, and even natural whirlpool on the shallows.
Not far from there one more man-made miracle is located - the Radon lake formed in an abandoned granite quarry. The water here is turquoise in color, and the depth of the lake is 45 meters.
Odesa region offers a lot of sightseeing and places for travel within weekend, but to get to the most of them you need to have a car and a good navigator or a local friend.
