New Year 2019 Celebrations in Odesa: Guide

Odesa is famous as a party capital, and it confirms this status even in winter. Yes, the Black Sea is cold and we cannot enjoy the beach activities… But New Year and Christmas holidays are coming, so Odesa dwellers and guests are going to have a big celebration! The city is already actively preparing for a huge winter party, so it`s time to find out where to have fun during holidays in Odesa.

Odesa city has already started to put on its festive attire: the central locations such as Primorsky boulevard, Pushkinska and Deribasivska streets, Tchaikovsky lane, Ekaterininska square and City Garden are already being decorated with colorful garlands and illumination.
The festive activities will start with St. Nicholas Day celebrations. On December 15 at 12 PM, eco-holiday dedicated to St. Nicholas`s Day will be held in Odesa Zoo. On the same day, charity fairy tale performance will be shown in the City Garden – also at 12 PM.
On December 16, everyone is welcome to visit charity Christmas fair in Gorzal complex (Shevchenko park).
On December 2018, dwellers and guests of Odesa will have a chance to see festive “New Year Coca Cola caravan” going from Uspenska street to Soborna square.

On December 19, Christmas trees will start to shine in Odesa. The main Christmas tree will be opened at Dumska square at 4 PM. The Christmas trees will be also installed in each district of the city, including Deribasivska street. From December 19 till January 7, merry festive music will play on Dumska square daily.
On December 23, “Good deeds bicycle parade” dedicated to winter holidays will pass through the central streets of Odesa at 12 PM.
On December 23-25, all who love modern art and technologies will have an opportunity to enjoy unusual 3D installations at “Odesa Light Fest” that will take place on Dumska square and 4/1, Ekaterininska street at 6 PM.

Winter in Odesa may come later than in other regions, but it's just as fun when it comes to seasonal sports. But anyone can feel the Christmas spirit at some roofed ice skating locations already now.


If you love hot drinks, you will surely enjoy “Mulled wine fest” that will be held on Deribasivska street on December 25-30 and January 6-7.
On December 25 at 2 PM, everyone is welcome to enjoy “Christmas in every family” festive program in the City Garden.
“European Christmas” project with art Christmas tree will start on the same day at 3 PM near the Duke monument.

On December 27, “Fairy tales in New Year Eve” concert and entertainment program will take place in Gorky park (start at 12 PM).
The main New Year celebration in Odesa will be held on Dumska square on December 31. From 9 PM till midnight, guests will enjoy festive concert featuring the-well known singer Oleg Vinnyk. At midnight, everyone will see bright fireworks as the symbol of the starting 2019 year. From 1 AM till 3 AM, DJs will entertain merry crowd with energizing sets. The working hours of public transport in New Year night will be longer than usual.
On January 1, families with kids are invited to take part in entertainment program on Dumska square from 1 PM till 5 PM.
Christmas fair on Primorsky boulevard will work daily till January 13. The “Masters` shop” in Shevchenko park will work till the same date, but only on weekends.
