Summer 2018 BeLIVE Festival Guide

Summer 2018 BeLIVE Festival Guide

Way back in cold March the founder of Ulichnaya Eda food fest has announced a new bright summer event – BeLIVE festival that will take place at the Olimpiyskiy Stadium in Kyiv. The event had been wrapped in mystery for almost a month, and only recently eager audience found out that Jamiroquai and Hurts would be among the headliners of the event. Sure enough, they're not the only ones worth attention.

BeLIVE has been initially presented as a multi-experience festival; and it keeps up with the strategy. On June 21-24, visitors will be able to enjoy 10 interactive zones: such as stand-up comedy, cinema, art, video-blogging, design, and fashion, street food and sport. The festival organizers emphasize that they choose only the best vendors and participants to impress the visitors.

The focus, of course, is made on music: BeLIVE will set up three stages, Main Stage with headliners of the festival, White Night Stage for electronic music, and My Music Stage where Ukrainian musicians will light up the stadium. Slowly but surely, the fest’s organizers let the audience sneak peek: for now, we know that the British funk musician Jamiroquai and synth-pop band Hurts are among the main headliners.
Several days ago, the news dropped a whole lineup for the My Music Stage. Each day the music scene will concentrate on a different genre:
June 21: Hip-Hop

The festival will start with Ukrainian hip-hopers. Счастливые Люди band is among them. The band dropped a full album this year and shot a music video in Los Angeles. The young but ambitious Very the Jerry, Wavy Dem and Тулим will appear on the stage as well. Finally, the last member of the day’s lineup is Alina Pash, a young rapper from Transcarpathia who has worked with Ivan Dorn’s music producer.

June 22: Indie

The indie scene will be represented by newly-discovered musicians: Braii band who have recently released their first EP, and LAYAH known for intriguing visuals. ROYCE band from neighboring Lithuania will introduce the audience to the spirit of the Eastern European indie. One of the most expected bands of the day is Latexfauna — a dreamy electronic band known for their hit Surfer, charming vocals, and nostalgic synth music.
June 23: Pop

The day will be full of discoveries in contemporary Ukrainian music: from critically acclaimed band Адвокаты and Open Kids, nominated for the M1 Music Awards' «Project of the year» to the comeback of DILEMMA band and Агонь, founded by the former members of the famous Ukrainian band Quest Pistols. Besides, the program features a secret guest of the day.

June 24: Electronic

Finally, My Main Stage will be dedicated to electronic music on the last day of the festival. The audience will have a chance to listen to the live performance of INDT and Mountain Breeze bands. Both of them competed to be a part of Eurovision 2018. The famous Ukrainian band The Erised that has slowly but surely conquered the country and then gave a tour abroad will light up the stage as well. Another discovery is LAUD, a contemporary musician who collaborates with the Eurovision 2016 winner Jamala. KAZKA band, a winner of «Discovery of the year» YUNA Award 2017 will finish the festival with their rich melodies.
