Containers for Dangerous Waste Installed in Kyiv

In 2018 Ukraine started to make its first serious steps in the field of ecology. New law on waste sorting, which came into force on January 1, 2018, has already reaped first fruits: bright modern containers for dangerous waste have been installed in two districts of Ukrainian capital. These containers are purposed for collecting old batteries, energy-saving lamps and mercury thermometers. Let`s see where we can get rid of dangerous waste in eco-friendly way.

“Kyivcomunservice” public utility is continuing works on installation of special eco-friendly containers for dangerous waste on the territory of Kyiv. By January 31, 2018 the utility has already installed 22 such containers in two districts of Kyiv – Solomensky and Shevchenkivsky.

The containers correspond to all modern standards of dangerous waste storage. Internal surface of containers is covered by layer of insulating damping material. However, old energy-saving lamps and mercury thermometers have to be packed or fold in paper before being put inside container.
Please note that these containers are purposed only for dangerous waste. It is prohibited to drop household waste into them.

Besides, note that it is strictly prohibited to drop broken mercury thermometers into the new containers. You may discard them at the address 21, Vyshgorodska street, in “Kyiv rescue service” public utility.
Currently there are 12 new containers for dangerous waste installed in Solomensky district and 10 containers in Shevchenkivsky district.
