Bank Cards Instead of Kyiv Metro Paypass

Kyiv Metro is the fastest and most popular means of transport in the city, it is also one of the cheapest. The city’s Metro is always crowded, so sometimes it takes rather long time to purchase a single-use ticket at the ticket-office or at the ticket-machine. In order to reduce the lines and make transportation more pleasant,  Kyiv subway administration has recently announced that from now on, passengers can pay for their transpiration using a regular bank credit cards like Visa PayWave or Mastercard PayPass.

Using these types of credit cards while paying for your transportation in Kyiv subway can even get you a discount. For instance, using Visa PayWave or Mastercard PayPass while paying for 10 - 19 rides will reduce the price of the ticket to UAH 3.90, for 20-29 rides - to UAH 3.80, for 30-39 rides to UAH 3.70, for 40-49 rides - to UAH 3.60 and over 50 rides will give you a single ticket costing UAH 3.50. Passengers can also purchase an unlimited monthly subway card for UAH 300 or an unlimited fortnight card for UAH 150.

Passengers can top-up their Visa PayWave or Mastercard PayPass cards using the bank terminals which are currently installed on 8 central subway stations. Kyiv subway administration has promised to supply all the subway stations with the top-up card terminals in the nearest future, as this means of payment appeared to be very popular and received a very positive feedback from the passengers.
