While looking for things to do in Kiev do not skip an option of visiting the National Art Museum of Ukraine, the ‘temple’ of Ukrainian art.

Situated close to European Square, the marvelous building, which hosts the most representative collection of Ukrainian figurative art in the world, is definitely worth seeing and visiting. The building was constructed according to the project of Moscow architect Petro Boitsov, which was updated and implemented by Ukrainian architect Vladyslav Horodetskiy.

The combination of neo-classic majestic impression with the sculpture decoration of the frontispiece, performed by Elio Salia, makes the museum one of the most interesting places in Kiev.
The collection of the museum numbers almost 40 thousand exhibits, displaying masterpieces of Ukrainian painting, sculpture and graphics from Kiev Rus’ age to nowadays.
The outstanding value of the collection is represented with monumental reaching and excellent artistry of the masters of Ukrainian Baroque, the first bricks of the secular genre in Ukraine of the XVIII century, the influence of the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts in the XIX century, vivid heritage of Ukrainian avant-garde movement and previously repressed art of totalitarian age of Ukrainian history.
The collection is still expanding, following the trends of Ukrainian contemporary art.
