LvivMozArt Exhibition: Art, Notes and Mozart's Violin

On July 13 the famous Potocki Palace opens an exhibition in the framework of LvivMozArt festival. Visitors will have a unique chance to see rarities of the Mozart dynasty period like art, illustrations, goblets and the real gem of the exhibition — the Mozart violin.

The exhibition is a part of LvivMozArt — initiative of the Bavarian State Opera conductor and Lviv authorities, which brings together history and music in Ukraine. The festival is dedicated to Franz Xaver Mozart, son of the famous composer, who lived in Lviv from 1808 to 1830. The festival’s schedule is busy with a string of concerts in Lviv Opera House, including a grand violin concert with the instrument used by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Potocki Palace welcomes everyone to witness this very instrument — a 1719 violin made by the renowned craftsman Daniel Achatius Stadlmann. According to experts, Mozart used the violin while tutoring the young count Baworowski. The unique historical artifact is provided by Stiftung Mozarteum Salzburg. Other artifacts presented on the exhibition are Mozart’s goblet, notes, musical instruments as well as a lifetime portrait of Franz Xaver Mozart.
