NextBike
The first in Ukraine municipal bike rental, NextBike was launched in Lviv in 2015 and still is one of the most popular rentals. Currently, there are more than 20 stations conveniently located in city districts and near major sightseeing spots. The NextBike map lets you see the nearest station with available bikes. The payment can be done via a terminal or app. You will be asked to enter your ID document number and a number of the bike you’d like to rent. The system will then unlock the bike and you are free to go. You can see the current price list below:
First City Bicycle
The First City Bicycle rental has one salon, conveniently located in the heart of the city at 16, Rynok Square. The rental works from 9 A.M. to 10 P.M. without days off, making it a nice option for those who decide to explore Lviv Old City by bike.
The price is UAH 50 per hour or UAH 200 per day for a usual bike. Besides, couples and friends can also enjoy the fun of riding a tandem bike - it will cost UAH 100 per hour or UAH 400 per day. In order to rent the transport, you need to show an ID (passport or driver's license).
Veliki
Veliki.ua is by far one of the most popular bike rentals not only in Lviv but in Kyiv as well. This rental has four main spots, three of them located on the same street in the center of Lviv. The bike station on 1, Rynok Square can be spotted by the Amphitrite fountain, while a station on 42, Rynok Square is located on the first floor of the building. The last downtown rental from Veliki is located at 14, Svobody Avenue near the Lviv Opera House. The fourth rental spot lies in the Stryi Park between the Ivasyk-Telesyk fountain and Delice Hotel. The location is perfect for taking a ride in the green area of the city.
Depending on preferences, one can rent a mountain bike, cruisers perfect for city, tandem or bikes for kids. The price list is the following: UAH 80 per hour for basic mountain and city bikes, UAH 120 for brand-new mountain bikes, UAH 140 for tandem and UAH 60 for kid's bikes. The period of rental can vary with the maximum of one week. Safety deposit is a necessary condition. The deposit is 250€/$300/UAH 9000 + UAH 200 for mountain and city bikes. Alternatively, you can give an international passport and UAH 250 or driver's license and UAH 500 for storage.
Velobike
Velobike rental is located in the Shuvar shopping mall right in the bicycle store on the first floor. In total, there are seven types of bike available for rent. You can also customize the models by additionally renting bike child seats (UAH 120), bike bag (UAH 80) or bike trunk (UAH 30). Velobike is conveniently located near parks and lakes as well as secluded bike tracks. The shop staff can also give tips on the best places for cycling in Lviv.
On weekdays, renting will cost UAH 40 per hour / UAH 200 per day; and UAH 50 per hour / UAH 220 per day on weekends. Night rental is available as well from 7 P.M. to 10 A.M. In case you rent a bike for a day from 10 A.M. to 10.30 A.M. on the following day, you get a 25% discount. Like in many other bike rentals, safety deposit is a must here. Velobike accepts the following: UAH 7500-9000 or $200/200€ depending on the bike model, international passport and UAH 2000 + UAH 100, driver's license and UAH 2000 UAH + UAH 100.
4Ride
While 4Ride store originally focuses on skiing equipment, they have an accessible bike rental as well. The store is located on 1, Zhovkivska Street right near the High Castle Hall. 4Ride offers various models of mountain and city bikes for men, women and kids. The store staff can assist in selecting the best fitting model.
As for the prices, rental costs UAH 100 up to 5 hours, UAH 150 per day (from 9 A.M. to 8 P.M.) and UAH 200 for 24 hours. Pick up from any point of the city will cost UAH 150. You get a helmet and bike lock for free. The safety deposit at 4Ride is $200/150€ or UAH 5000. Alternatively, you can leave your passport + UAH 1000 for storage.
Hopefully in the nearest years, the city administration will proceed with develop the bicycle infrastructure.
