Cheer at the Open-air MMA Championship
Golden Coat Fight Champ MMA 2018 is one of the unique sports competitions that take place this summer in the capital. The special detail of this contest is coats worn by the contestants that make the matches even more spectacular. Eight matches in eight divisions with contestants from Ukraine, Poland, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Belorusia, a fire show, synchronized swimming performance are one of the points of the agenda for the night.

Listen to Live Music in the Botanical Garden
Hryshko Botanical Garden hosts a series of open-air concerts to enjoy sounds of jazz on fresh air. This August, visitors will have a chance to listen to the live performance of the best sax of the county — Dmytro Bobin. Kyiv Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra will join the sax to perform jazz melodies, as well as cinema hits like Pink Panther and Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend. Run a Marathon
This August, Kyiv City Marathon holds test runs for those preparing for upcoming grand marathons or simply those who enjoy the feeling of wind on their face while they test their abilities. Contestants are offered to run 5 km, 10 km or 20 km depending on their preferences. All participants will be provided with drinking water and bananas. Watch Auto Racing
Korchfest will present tuned cars that light up the spark even in those who don’t drive. The racing contest, unique auto exhibition, food and photo zone will all take place at the Ice Stadium. Break the Country Record
While all the attention is usually turned to Independence Day, there’s one more holiday in August worth remembering. The National Flag Day 2018 in Kyiv will be marked by a truly massive flash mob: a 2700-meter flag will be unfolded on the territory from Rudenko street all the way to Kharkivska Square. The event will be documented in the register of National Records of Ukraine.

Celebrate Independence Day with Okean Elzy
A traditional Independence Day celebration isn’t complete without Okean Elzy, by far one of the most popular bands in Ukraine. Sviatoslav Vakarchuk and his band are ready to light up the Olympiiskyi stadium with the classic hits and new songs that came out this year. Moreover, a folk band DakhaBrakha that is engaged in a grand world tour will climb the stage with Okean Elzy to deliver the traditional sounds with modern music trends.

Attend Hot Air Balloons Festival
A nice option of spending the last days of summer for those who want to get out of Kyiv is the annual Hot Balloons Festival in Bila Tserkva. Located in a mere 70 kilometers away from Kyiv, Oleksandriya is one of the most well-visited and old parks in the Kyiv region, which celebrates the 230th anniversary. The park traditionally hosts a hot air balloon festival, deemed one of the largest events of hot air ballooning in Ukraine.
