Pantone traditionally announced the color of the upcoming year - in 2019, Living Coral is said to set the trends. According to Pantone, the vibrant color with golden hue is bright enough to be energizing and mellow enough to provide comfort. PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral goes in time with the global trend of seeking authentic experience and connection in the technological era. As usual, Pantone also provided a suitable palette that goes with the color of the year.
Fur-free Future

The trend of using faux fur instead of real fur has been existing in the haute couture at least since 2016. Famous brands like Armani, Hugo Boss, Gucci and Ralf Lauren all stand animal cruelty. In 2018, the movement became more active - for instance, fur was completely absent during the Spring/Summer 2019 London Fashion Week, as Vogue Paris reported. Now not only niche brands but also haute couture giants take huge steps towards sustainable fashion.
Sustainable fashion

The leitmotif of sustainable fashion is woven into many decisions in the fashion world starting from going fur-free to using recycled plastic or hemp. The trend will only get stronger in the nearest years. Moreover, sustainable fashion doesn't know any borders - Ukrainian brands also support the planet and create sustainable innovative designs. Ksenia Schnaider, for example, uses upcycling - a transformation of old materials and items to create something new. The brand's Demi Denims are beloved by model Bella Hadid.
Niche brands vs mass market

The standoff between the mass market giants and small startups and local brands has been going on for a while. Some mass-market brands like Zara are already known for numerous rip-offs from small independent enterprises.
However, with the rise of Instagram, small businesses might gain the upper hand. The app transforms E-commerce and gives customers and brands a platform for direct communication. Another important factor is uniqueness and individuality that have become the new definition of chic. Buying from independent brands offers an alternative to endless rows of identical items in mass-market stores.
Animal print

One of the defining fashion trends of 2019, animal prints, already made a statement during 2018 fashion weeks around the globe. It's not clear whether guests dressed head to toe in leopard, tiger and snakeskin were inspired by haute couture or vice versa. Regardless, brands like Yves Saint Laurent, Burberry and Dolce & Gabbana all stand united in re-introducing the trend after its last spike of popularity in the 00s. Snakeskin is mostly popular in shoes, while leopard can be spotted everywhere from dresses and skirts to micro bags.
Crafts

According to the French trend forecaster Cecile Poignant, crafts are going to be a major trend in the nearest future. The reason behind is our longing for products with a soul that are a rarity in the market full of identical lifeless items. That's why crafted items, especially from niche brands, will make an appearance more and more often in 2019.
French designer and IT girl Jeanne Damas, for example, popularized the 'French chic' straw bag that fits summer and autumn looks. Crochet also is one of the main spring 2019 trends, as seen on runways by Sonia Rykiel, Carolina Herrera and Michael Kors.
The 90s trends

While the most part of 2018 was all about the 1980s, elements of the 1990s also made a big comeback. For instance, Bella Hadid was spotted in a long Matrix-style leather coat and a bucket hat. Cargo pants, an essential element of the 90s, were featured by Ralph Lauren. Celebrities like Rihanna, Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid wore tiny sunglasses. Another trend that resurged in 2018 was bike shorts - beloved even by Princess Diana, they're bound to stay for summer 2019 as well.
