Ukrainian Cossack with a sword

The first scene of Chornyi Kozak was shot in October 2008. Cut ten years later, the movie is finally out in the cinemas all over Ukraine. Chornyi Kozak is a volunteer-only project, featuring a real Ukrainian cossack and a popular ethnic music band, DakhaBrakha. The story tells about a woman who was left alone after her husband went to war. Then, mysterious things start happening...

Beautiful Hanna has a daughter and a husband, who goes to the war. She's left in a village all alone, doing all the hard work, bringing up her daughter, and refuses numerous fiancés. Her life then suddenly begins to change. At night, someone comes to her home and performs the hard work: plows the field, mends the gate...

The mystery becomes even more intriguing when a fortune teller gives Anna an enchanted egg, that can make Hanna invisible to find out who comes to her at night. Anna sees the Black Cossack, cursed not to see the light of day.
