Christmas markets in the Old Town
Lviv traditionally lures tourists in with fairytale-looking Christmas markets. This year, the winter towns on Rynok Square and Svobody Avenue, stretching all the way to Lviv Opera House, started working on December 7. The markets will work every day from 11 A.M. to 10 P.M. on Mon-Fri and from 10 A.M. to 11 P.M. on weekends and holidays.
Guests can enjoy mulled wine and strudel, stock on Christmas gifts and numerous handmade Ukrainian trinkets. In 2018-2019, the Rynok Square market will also welcome guests to the ice rink located right behind the Town Hall. It will work until March 15 and will be open daily from 10 A.M. until 10 P.M.
Where to buy Christmas trees in Lviv
Lviv City Administration published the list of locations where you can legally buy a Christmas tree from December 18, 2018, to January 6, 2019:

The locations are appointed by Lviv City Administration to supervise the legal sale of Christmas trees in the city.
Lviv among the Top 100 City Destinations 2018
An independent provider of strategic market research Euromonitor International has published the Top 100 City Destinations 2018 report. It provides data about the most popular cities across Europe, Asia, Australasia, Americas, the Middle East and Africa.
The cities were chosen based on 2017 international arrivals, i.e. any person visiting another country for at least 24 hours, for a period not exceeding 12 months, and staying in paid or unpaid, collective or private accommodation. Lviv is the only city in Ukraine that got in Euromonitor International’s rating. The city ranked 80 and showed 4.0% in 2018. It came ahead Frankfurt, Stockholm, and Abu Dhabi.
A new train to Wrocław
The new through coaches Kyiv-Wrocław are to be launched on December 8, reports Ukrzaliznytsia. The through coaches will be attached to trains № 749/51-52/750 and will become one more way to travel from Ukraine to Poland. It will depart from Kyiv daily at 2:07 P.M. and arrive in Wrocław on the following day at 11:25 P.M.
In the opposite direction, the car will be departing at 4:30 P.M. and arrive in Kyiv the next day at 5:14 P.M. The new through coaches will stop at the stations in Lviv, Przemyśl, Kraków and Lubliniec. Due to the increase in demand, 40 more international trains will appear in the new traffic schedule. Currently, the most popular destination is Kyiv - Przemyśl.
Hopin taxi service now works in Lviv
A popular Slovak taxi app Hopin is now available in Lviv. Previously the service worked only in Kyiv and Chernihiv. Hopin allows customers to order a taxi without registering and pay by cash or by credit card via the app. According to WZ Lviv, the minimum fare is UAH 45, landing costs UAH 35 and one kilometer within the city borders costs UAH 7.
Out of the city, the fare for 1 kilometer is UAH 10. Besides, waiting in the traffic jam will cost UAH 1 per minute. Customers can pick a car they like on a live map and view all the information about the car they want to pick beforehand. Hopin app is available for iOS, Android, Windows Phone and Blackberry.
