Summer Skin Care: Specialist's Recommendations

Summer Skin Care: Specialist's Recommendations

According to one of the popular misconceptions, during summer our skin doesn’t need the amount of care we dedicate in winter. In reality, it’s not entirely true: both face and body need nourishing and moisturizing, as well as intense protection from the Sun. Cosmetologist Diana Hak gives expert tips for the best skin treatment in the hot season.

Many cosmetologists recommend focusing on intensive moisturizing during cold season. Should you follow the same routine in summer?
moisture
During summer it’s very important not only to moisturize your skin but also prevent the skin moisture loss! Overuse of scrubs, exfoliation peelings and other skin cleansing products can lead to evaporation of the natural moisture in the skin.
Besides, the insolation makes your skin thinner. It’s important to choose products that restore the water balance of your skin and protect it at the same time. For these purposes face serums, creams and masks usually contain hyaluronic acid, vitamins E and C, silk or wheat proteins, avocado extract, and snail filtrate.
Which skin products are better for summer?
During summer it’s better to omit using aggressive and extra-strong skin care products that contain AHA, retinoids or whitening and exfoliating ingredients. High urea content is also undesirable. If the use of these products is necessary, it should be supervised by an expert.

Are thermal water sprays beneficial during summer?
thermal

A thermal water spray will be effective only when it matches the needs of the person’s skin, which are different for everyone. Otherwise, after a short period of usage PH levels can change, which leads to the feeling of discomfort and makes the condition of skin worse. An expert can help you choose the right thermal water type.
What SPF level is the best for those who live in a city? Do SPF-infused foundations give your skin enough protection?
Regardless of your age or phototype, you should use broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF of 50 or higher. Consult an expert to choose the right one, because the formula is very important. Modern sunscreens have light formulas and many of them provide a toning effect. The effectiveness of SPF-infused foundations doesn’t concede to sunscreens at all!

The beach season is approaching, which leads us to important questions. Is tanning dangerous? How can it be done safely?
tan

Photobiologists all over the world have argued that there is no such thing as a “safe tan” for a long time. The amount of sunlight reflected by buildings and asphalt is enough for metropolis dwellers. You can’t avoid sunlight all the time, but you can reduce the damage to the minimum if you expose your skin to sunrays only for short periods of time before 11:00 am or after 17:00 P.M.
