Race in ‘Vyshyvankas’ in Kiev

Photo: shutterstock.comOn Independence Day of Ukraine (August 24, 2016), the traditional Race in ‘Vyshyvankas’ (embroidered shirts) will take place in the capital. The event will have the charitable character with the aim to collect funds for the purchase of track and field kits for students of five schools in Kiev.

Race in ‘Vyshyvankas’ is an annual event, held in Kiev for two years already. Now, this traditional marathon is going to expand its geography: the same races will be organized in Lviv, Odessa, Kharkiv, Uzhhorod and Dnieper in 2016. Ukrainians from New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Toronto and Munich are also planning to put on their native shirts and support the new tradition.

Both adults and children can step into the fight for the Independence Cup. Everyone will be able to contribute to the charity and to test their strength at different distances: children up to 10 years will run 100 meters; under 15 - 500 meters; and adults will compete in the races of 500 meters, 5 and 10 kilometers distances.
All participants will receive a starter pack with a backpack, embroided shirt, start number with chip to fix the time, as well as a commemorative medal on the finish. The winners will receive prize cups and cash prizes. All visitors will receive prizes from sponsors and partners, as well as will get a chance to enjoy entertainment program and music concert.

The big Independence race will start with at Rusanivska waterfront on August 24, 2016 in Kiev. However, the festive race will last until August 27, 2016 in other cities. Join the big sports and charity initiative to celebrate the Independence in Ukraine!
