"Незалежнiсть"/ "Independence" American Movie Festival
Kyiv cinema located in the downtown is a traditional host of various movie festivals. This spring, Kyiv welcomes new American movies that have made a fuss in the cinematography already. Thus, March starts with the Oscar nominee, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, which tells a story of desperate mother who doesn't lose hope of finding what has happened to her missing daughter. Police in the small town won't make any effort to help — that's why she decided to place three billboards, calling for justice.

Many have heard or even watched "The Room", called the worst movie to have ever been made. But what do we know about its creator, Tommy Wiseau? The Disaster Artist starring Dave Franco will help to look at him closely and maybe even change opinions.

A story of life and struggles of Lucky, played by Harry Dean Stanton ("Alien", "Repo Man", "Paris, Texas"), who outlived all his peers in a dusty town in the middle of nowhere and went off on a journey of self-discovery. Another Oscar nominee, The Florida Project, starring Willem Dafoe, is known to many by its bright and vibrant colors — pink, blue, yellow — somewhat reminding a fusion of La La Land and The Grand Budapest Hotel. This movie tells a story of a kid and her mother, who live in a cheap motel, belonging to Bobby (Willem Dafoe). The cheerful kid turns her day-to-day life into a carnival, but her mother has to do far more dangerous things to keep them afloat. Apart from the narratives, the Festival's program features documentaries and a collection of indie short movies.
