Sofiyivka National dendrologic park of Ukraine is, without exaggeration, one of most beautiful places in Ukraine. Behind a plan of its creators, Sofiyivka is the embodied with illustrations of Homer’s 'Iliad' and 'Odyssey', where each composition or small architectural form comprises the whole plan, expresses idea of a myth or certain event.

Sofiyivka National park is a part of Ukraine's National academy of Science. It is situated in the town of Uman, Cherkasy region and is well-known in the whole world as one of the most famous masterpieces of the world landscape gardening of the end of XVII - beginning of XIX centuries. Sofiyivka stands on the same level of park construction with such European parks as Balbi Garden in Florence (Italy), San-Susi Park in Potsdam (Germany) and Versailles (France). 
The park accounts for over 2000 types of trees, bushes and flowers, both local and exotic, which harmonically co-exist with beautiful pounds, lakes, waterfalls and rocks.

Sofiyivka park was founded in 1796 by the Polish noble Count Stanisław Szczęsny Potocki. He named the park after his Greek wife Sofia (Zofia Potocka). When the construction was finished in 1802, Sofia received the park as a gift from her husband on her birthday.

The park was confiscated from private possession after the Polish November Uprising in 1832 and transferred to the Kiev Official Chamber. The same year, The Russian Emperor Nicholas I presented the park to his wife Alexandra Feodorovna. During 1836-1859, the park was placed under the property of the Military Settlements Administration and was majorly changed.

Soviyivka National park is one of the world famous landscape-garden art creations. There are many scenic areas in the park including waterfalls, fountains, ponds and a stone garden. It is one of the most famous examples of European landscape garden design that has been preserved to the present time.
Uman is situated around 200km from Kiev. The fastest and most convenient way to get there by car is to take the Kiev-Odessa highway. Just in front of the park, there is a nice ‘Sofiyivskyi’ Hotel for those tourists who would love to stay over for couple days and explore each single corner of Sofiyivka park.
