Nextbike: Public Transport Alternative in Kiev

Kiev is getting closer to European standards of social and ecological responsibility! On July 5, 2016 Ukrainian capital finally hosted a test run of municipal bike rental system Nextbike, which is a great alternative to public transport in the city.

Kiev launched the municipal bike rental system Nextbike in a test mode for now. Along with the official presentation, the CEO of Nextbike Ukraine announced tariffs for bike rental in Kiev. It was noted that the subscription for a month is going to be UAH 120 (the usage of bike for the firs 30 minutes will be free, the next hour – UAH 8 and each subsequent hour – UAH 50). Subscription for the season (March - October) will cost UAH 800 (the usage of bike for the first 30 minutes will be free, the next hour – UAH 4 and each subsequent hour – UAH 50). However, usage of Nextbike without the subscription will be more expensive (the first 30 minutes - UAH 20, every next hour – UAH 50).

At the first stage the bikes will be available at eight points around the city. Their quantity will be increased to 10-12 before the end of the year. It should be noted that such an alternative to public transport already exists in 16 countries. The first city to introduce the system of municipal bike rental in Ukraine was Lviv.
