Launch of Ukrainian National Lowcoster

New national lowcost airline company SkyUp has recently announced its launch in April 2018. In the first working year, SkyUp plans to operate international charter flights as wells as to open some regular domestic and international routes.

On December 12, 2017, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, Volodymyr Omelyan, posted the following message on his Facebook page: “I am glad to announce establishment of the first Ukrainian lowcoster that will be operating domestic and international flights. It will start its work in April 2018”.

According to the press release of the newly-founded airline company, given on the conference of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, charter flights in 2018 will be operated from Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv and Odesa to 16 destinations: Antalya, Bodrum, Dalaman (Turkey), Sharm El Sheikh, Hurghada (Egypt), Tivat (Montenegro), Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, Tenerife, Alicante (Spain), Tirana (Albania), Rimini (Italy), Burgas, Varna (Bulgaria), Larnaca (Cyprus), Dubai (UAE).

The press release also informs about regular domestic routes: Kyiv-Odesa, Kharkiv-Odesa, Lviv-Odesa. There is also information on regular international routes: Kyiv-Barcelona, Kyiv-Dubai, Kyiv-Larnaca. SkyUp currently plans to start operating regular flights in June 2018.

Evgeniy Hainatsky, the General Director of the company, says that price for Kyiv-Odesa direction will start from UAH 499 for a one-way ticket. The tickets will be on sale from March 2018. The price for tickets will depend on destination and time of purchasing. The cost of all regular flights will be based on lowcost model, which means that the cheapest tickets will include only carry-on luggage. Other luggage and services will be provided for additional payment.

SkyUp airline company was registered in June 2017. ACS-Ukraine company, owned by Tatyana Alba and Yuri Alba, is stated as the founder of the new lowcoster. Tatyana and Yuri are also the owners of well-known JoinUp! travel agency. According to the registry information, passenger transportation is the main field of SkyUp activity, but company can also provide services of booking, air freight, support service of air transport and other services in transport branch. Evgeniy Hainatsky, who previously worked for Aerosvit, Wind Rose, Air Onix and Style Avia companies, became the General Director of SkyUp.
Currently, aircraft fleet of SkyUp company includes 3 airplanes Boeing 737-800 NG (189 seats) of 2001, 2002 and 2011 manufacture years. Next year, the company is going to buy one more airplane. It is planned that until 2022 company`s fleet will consist of 12 planes. SkyUp also plans to buy few planes of model Boeing 737 MAX.
