Kyiv Weekend Events: April 28-29, 2018

The great May holidays are almost here, and it’s especially felt in the upcoming weekend in Kyiv. On April 28-29, expect sunny weather as well as numerous events for foodies like a new Gastro Prichal festival and multiple open-air exhibitions about Ukrainian culture and transport.

Those who visited the Carpathians have certainly heard of the Hutsul culture, which is often veiled with numerous myths and legends. Luckily, this weekend there’s no need to take a train to Uzhorod. The open-air Pyrohiv museum near Kyiv hosts ГРАЖДАFEST, where visitors will have a chance to hear live Hutsul music, try authentic Transcarpathian dishes and enjoy various handmade trinkets on the loud fair.
When: April 28-29, 1 P.M. — 7 P.M.
Entrance: UAH 50 for adults, UAH 30 for kids, UAH 15 for 7— 10-year-old kids.

Made in Ukraine Food Market

This weekend marks the opening season of the well-known Kyiv food fair Made in Ukraine that will take place on Kontraktova Ploshcha. As the name suggests, the event gives an opportunity to explore the world of local manufacturers that are often eco-friendly and produce food suitable for vegetarians and vegans. The range of products is truly astonishing: from traditional Ukrainian goat cheese and delicious honey to vegetable chips and pastilles.

Vintage Bicycles Exhibition

The bicycle issue in the capital of Ukraine is brought up regularly by the government and local communities like Association of Kyiv Cyclists. Members of the community strive for the safe and better life of cyclists and often host events. One of them is the new Bicycle Boom of 1980s exhibition that will take place in the National Museum of History of Ukraine. The event will not only show numerous vintage bicycles but also introduce the public to the cycling history of Kyiv, its peculiarities and interesting facts.
When: April 24 — May 29

Гастро Причал / Gastro Prichal

Awesome news for the foodies: a new food festival will take place each year in the capital of Ukraine. Гастро Причал or Gastronomic Port will be located at Kyiv River Port in Podil neighborhood to introduce new popular dishes from European cuisine and the well-known classics. Apart from food, visitors will be able to attend workshops from local chefs, and let their hair down on the dance nights with the best DJs. Besides, Гастро Причал will be kid-friendly: several merry-go-rounds, the Ferris wheel, and a spherical cinema will be installed at the location. Bike and rollerblades rental will be available as well.
When: Starting April 28 until September

Old Car Land

A perfect occasion to kill two birds with one stone will present itself this weekend: the retro Old Car Land festival will take place in the open-air Ukraine State Aviation Museum. The yearly event proves to be one of the most-visited in spring and summer: numerous retro cars of Soviet and foreign origin, a vast expo of sport cars and even tanks from the WWII will be located among the exhibits of Ukrainian aviation. Live music and food, as well as entertainment for kids, will be available as well.
When: April 27-May 1, 9 A.M. — 10 P.M.

Experience Da Vinci Exhibition

The large traveling exhibition Experience Da Vinci is the first-timer in Kyiv. Hosted in the pavilion #7 of the Expocenter of Ukraine, the exhibition reveals the mysterious world of the genius mind. Visitors will have a chance to see designs and objects constructed according to Leonardo Da Vinci's writings.
When: March 15 — April 30
