Barbukan
Barbukan is a creative space located in Podil (23, Pochayninska street, Kyiv). The atmosphere of the place aims at stimulating visitors’ creative side. Barbucan offers interesting selection of books, delicious coffee and sweet treats, seriously, what else is needed for being productive and creative? This bookshop slash cafe opened a few months ago. Barbucan hosts various workshops, lectures, book readings and board games tournaments.
Barbucan is a children-friendly place. Kids enjoy book readings and workshops that are regularly held here. In future the owners of the place are planning to host a series of workshops specially designed for children conducted by popular Ukrainian illustrators, editors, writers. Parents can also leave their kids for an hour or two at Barbukan kids’ section, where they will be entertained by animators and are sure to spend some quality time.

Another interesting place to visit in Podil is 665Library (10A, NAberezhno-Hrushchatytska street, Kyiv). This is a library stocked up with books, magazines and albums from indie publishing homes from Ukraine and abroad mainly on modern art, street art, illustration, comics. The library was established by young Ukrainian artists from 665 art formation back in 2012; for 5 years of existence, the library changed 2 cities and 3 locations. 665Library is currently housed in Port Creative Hub.
665Library is now offering over 200 rare editions of various art magazines and art books from all over Europe. The library boasts some exclusive editions of famous contemporary artists, musicians, designers, poets, photographers and other representatives of various subcultures.
Those interested in indie press and indie publishing are welcome to attend various lectures and workshops that are often hosted by 665Library.

Another creative space located just a stone throw aways from Port Creative hub and 665 Library, IZONE (8, Naberezhno-Luhova street, Kyiv) offers a spacious art gallery, exhibition space, creative workshop, various shops and healthy foods cafe. Recently IZONE has also launched a co-working space, where all the visitors can enjoy comfortable working environment. One hour stay at the IZONE co-working space costs UAH 35, you can also hire a work-space for a month, that will cost UAH 2100. The co-working is working around the clock.
IZONE became a popular destination among local photographers, as this is the only place in Ukraine that offers an opportunity to work in fablab IZOlab, that offers everything for processing and working with photo film and professional photo printing equipment. Here visitors can fix their photo equipment, learn how to use 3D printer or laser equipment, print on various materials such as fabrics, wood, plastic.
