Sheptytskyy Historical Museum Complex is situated in a residential area of Lviv, away from touristy city center. Housed in a magnificent 19th century palace, this historical museum complex has a permanent exhibition of fine Ukrainian art of the 20th century. Often tourists don’t even know about the existence of the museum, but are mesmerized by the beauty of the building when passing by. Due to long years of abandonment and recent reconstruction that took over five years, this museum is not among Lviv must-see places. However, the collection of the museum is truly remarkable and will pleasantly surprise art lovers. The concept of the exhibition is a retrospective of national art during the modern era. Ivan Pinzel Musem in Lviv is situated in the building of the age-old Catholic church (2, Mytna Square, Lviv), which formerly belonged to the Franciscan monks. It is a valuable monument of Lviv’s architecture. The cathedral is notable for the fact that its interior has preserved the skillfully made frescos of the 18th century, illustrating plots from the Old and New Testament. The museum of sacral baroque sculpture is reckoned among the Lviv’s most interesting and impressive museums.

Possibly the finest art museum in Ukraine, Lviv Art Gallery, is home to more than 60,000 pieces of art from all over the world. Lviv's main art repository has two wings: one in the lavish Pototsky Palace, and the other one is just around the corner on Stefanyka street. The Pototsky Palace wing houses an impressive collection of European art of 14th-18th centuries, including works of Rubens, Bruegel, Goya and Caravaggio. The wing on Stefanyka street contains 19th- and early-20th-century art as well as some 21st-century pieces. Superb collection of Polish art with some works by Jan Matejko is also presented over here.

You can spot the building with many street name plates in the heart of Lviv historic center, just between Brativ Rohatyntsiv street and Valova street. Each year Lviv City Council adds a new street name plate and the street initially called Arkhivna (Archive street) receives a new name.
Lviv hosts annual Independent Cinematography Festival «Kinolev». Each year «Kinolev» is named after world famous cinematography celebrities and these names become the new names of Arkhivna street. Currently, the street is named after Charlie Chaplin, Federico Fellini, Sergey Parajanov, Andrei Tarkovsky, Ingmar Bergman, François Truffaut and Yuriy Illenko.

Attractions in Lviv: parks
Visit «Shevchenkivskiy Gai» in Lviv to learn more about the Ukrainian vernacular architecture. This open-air museum displays different samples of regional folk architecture: houses, windmills, churches and schools. All buildings are scattered over beautiful green park to the east of the city center. Everything is pretty spread out here, so the visit involves a lot of walking and a bit of hiking.

Don't leave the city until you've seen Lychakivske Cemetery. This cemetery is a kind of Père Lachaise of Eastern Europe with the same sort of overgrown grounds and Gothic aura as the famous Parisian necropolis. Established in the late 18th century, it's the place of eternal rest for West Ukraine's prominent people. Pride of place goes to the grave of the famous national poet Ivan Franko, the patriotic singer-songwriter Volodymyr Ivasyuk and the most recent addition is the memorial to those who died during Revolution of Dignity in 2013.
