New Cafes in Kyiv: October 2017 Review

While Starbucks topples with Pumpkin Spice Latte sales, Kyiv witnesses new notable coffee shop openings. And that’s just a small piece of a jigsaw. Asian food cafe, selected natural food spot, and restaurant for breakfast with kids all open their doors for customers in October.

Rozumna Kava
rozumna kava
The new spot from the popular coffee chain Розумна Кава («Smart coffee» in Ukrainian) is opened in Petrivka district, away from the downtown’s hubbub. Mitia Yatim and Andrii Peliukhovskyi, the founders of the two coffee shops in the center, decided to broaden the city’s coffee map. Refined classics along with popular contemporary choices are made here with special care. The popular picks from the menu include lavender latte, the latest trend of salted caramel coffee. Besides, you can have a drink - Rozumna Kava gives opportunity to try best wines of Ukrainian manufacturers.
Address: 8, Stepana Bandery prospect (Petrivka metro station)
Non branded cafe

One more coffee spot away from the downtown, this cafe offers no labels and brands - hence the name - and simply enjoy a delicious hot beverage. The coffee menu concentrates only on classics: you’ll find the usual espesso, americano, capuccino and latte, carrying the best savor however familiar. If you are a fan of unusual tea flavors, drop by for a masala, which is quite hard to find in Kyiv, or a cup of raspberry-chili blend. As for the food, Non branded cafe offers two kinds of salads with tomatoes or beef & peaches, and three kinds of soup. The trendiest snack of this summer, waffles, are served here with various sweet and salty fillings - about 20 options to your choice.

After living in New York for a while, Zhuravel family decided to open a special concept cafe in the heart of Kyiv at Besarabsky Market. It introduces visitors to the mix of a coffee shop, restaurant, flower shop and showroom in one place. The speciality of the menu is a vast range of breakfast options: classical American pancakes, cheesecakes, toasts with scramble or poached egg, as well as more exotic choice of granola, shakshuka (a Middle Eastern dish of fried eggs with tomato, chili and onion sauce) and root-fritata (omelette with sweet corn). Steaks, duck with cherry sauce and chicken with lime are served here as a main course. If you are looking for a drink, the bar will surprise you with unique cocktails and verified classics.

Kitaika
kitaika
A genuine addition to the restaurants of the Kyiv’s left bank, Kitaika is a perfect blend of restaurant and a joint you can find on the bustling streets of China. The interior with cobbles and materials often used in «lofty» design contribute to the atmosphere of the futuristic megalopolis. You can watch the food being cooked at the open kitchen - all transparent and fair. The menu is your classical picks: sweet-and-sour sauce chicken, tom yum soup, salads and banana spring rolls for dessert. Hint: if you can’t handle the spice well, order milk from the beverages: it neutralizes the burn.
