Folk Art Spring Fair in Pyrogovo Museum near Kyiv

In the beginning of May 2018, the annual folk art fair will take place in the National Museum of Folk Architecture and Life of Ukraine in Pyrogovo. The list of participants includes folk artists from all the corners of Ukraine, who will familiarize guests with traditional Ukrainian crafts (pottery, blacksmithing, embroidery, weaving and so on). Everyone interested will have a chance to buy unique signature items and to have a great time listening to traditional Ukrainian folk music. The fair will offer such interesting items as embroidered Ukrainian shirts, towels, weaved carpets, ceramic utensils with handmade paintings, raffia furniture, toys, jewelry. The guests are also welcome to taste sweet honey gingerbread and other delicacies. Besides, the event organizers have announced a special program for children with exciting games and other activities.

“Carpathian Space” Art Festival in Ivano-Frankivsk

In 2018, Ivano-Frankivsk will host international “Carpathian Space” festival for the third time. The event will unite artists from 18 countries: Ukraine, Georgia, Poland, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Hungary, Moldova, Switzerland, Austria, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, France, Mexico, Belarus, Slovakia, Romania, Czech Republic. Art in all its forms will be presented on many locations of the city. The visitors will hear classic, folk, ethno and rock music, see theater performances and visual arts, watch movies, buy folk souvenirs, participate in culinary workshops, presentations, wine degustation, sports events and so on. Many art objects and performances will be presented in the course of “Carpathian Space” for the first time.

“Flugery Lvovu” Festival in Lviv

The bright music festival “Flugery Lvovu” (“Wind Wanes of Lviv”) will be held in the very heart of charming Lviv for the 16th time. This year, the festival is a part of the big city day celebration. During 2 days of the festival, all music fans are welcome to listen to authentic music bands from Ukraine and other countries such as Norway and Poland. On May 5, visitors will enjoy live shows of such bands as “ShockolaD”, “DagaDana”, “Lindblad & Friends”, “Impressions Quartet”, “Solomia Chubai and Jalapita”. On May 6, guests will be delighted by performances of the famous Ukrainian band “Pikkardiyska Tercia” and Polish band “Projektu Arboretum”.

Gaumarjos Georgian Culture Festival in Kharkiv

The first festival of Georgian culture in Kharkiv – Gaumarjos – will be symbolically held just before the Independence Day of Georgia. The name of the festival is a traditional Georgian word used to wish health. This word expresses the famous Georgian hospitality. The guests of the event will learn many new things about Georgian culture and will have a chance to dive into the atmosphere of this unusual country through its music, dances and cuisine. The territory of the festival will be divided into several thematic zones: cuisine zone; fair to buy souvenirs and products from Georgia; touristic zone, where everyone interested will learn about interesting routes in Georgia; photo zone with beautiful pictures showing Georgian life, culture, nature and people; and special play zone for kids.

Air Balloons Festival “Kubok Podillya” in Kamianets-Podilskyi

Since 1999, the annual air balloons festival in beautiful Kamianets-Podilskyi gathers hundreds of people interested in watching and participating in this event. In 2018, the festival will be held as a part of the city day celebration. The list of 2018 participants includes around 12 air balloon teams from Ukraine and abroad. Guests will have an opportunity to see the breathtaking view of colorful balloons flying above medieval castle and to try themselves in this exciting activity.

Book Arsenal Festival in Kyiv

Arsenal Book Festival in Kyiv is the largest event in Ukraine where art and literature come together. The purpose of this international festival is to popularize cultural modernization, self-education and reading. “Porokhovaya Bashnya” Medieval Festival in Odesa

The program of the V Odesa festival of medieval culture ““Porokhovaya Bashnya” (“Powder Tower”) offers professional sports contests on medieval fight with participants from Ukraine and abroad, modern sword fight for kids and teenagers, handicraft fair, workshops, photo sessions in medieval clothes, archery battle and many other interesting activities. In the evening, music fans are welcome to listen to concerts of more than 20 Ukrainian rock bands. The guests of the event will also enjoy theatre performances, medieval dances, exciting fire show along with delicious drinks and food cooked by old recipes on open fire.

Celebrations of the City Day in Kyiv and Lviv

Usually Kyiv dwellers celebrate the day of the city on the last weekend of May. This year, due to UEFA championship that will take place in Ukrainian capital on May 26, the celebration will be held a little later. On May 27, locals and guests of Kyiv will enjoy a big concert and other interesting activities dedicated to Kyiv`s 1536th birthday.
The celebration of the city day in Lviv is scheduled for May 5-6. This event annually embraces almost every district and street of the city. This year, as usual, Lviv dwellers and guests will have fun at a big parade, concerts, souvenirs fair and food courts.
