Alexey Botvinov Metropolitan Premiere Concert in Kyiv

Kyiv Opera House will host «4 elements» concert of Alexey Botvinov, one of the most remarkable pianists of our time. He is not only one of the best interpreters of Rachmaninoff’s music, but also a much acclaimed pianist for music of all periods. He might be the only pianist who performed Bach‘s „Goldberg Variations" more than 290 times on stage.

Alexey Botvinov was born in all-musicians family in Odesa, where he studied with Prof. Mogilewskaja and later at the Conservatory of Odesa with Prof. Kardaschew. 1987-89 he was a student at the Moscow Conservatory with famous Prof. Gornostayeva. He is a prize-winner of such important piano competitions as the 1st Rachmaninoff-Competition in Moscow, the 8th International Bach-Competition in Leipzig and the 1st Clara-Schumann-Competition in Düsseldorf. The pianist was on many tours with the Zurich Balett in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, France, Spain, Great Britain, Russia, Japan, Canada, South Africa, China etc. with huge success.

For his breathtaking performance of "Goldberg-Variations" ballet in June 2001 at the Deutsche Opera Berlin the press wrote: "a real firework at the piano" ("Berliner Kurier"). "Le Figaro" wrote about pianist’s CD of "Goldberg-Variations" – "Superbe!". This recording landed on 2nd place in Swiss music-charts. Next recording - "Botvinov plays Rachmaninoff" (2002). It was acclaimed as "the best classical recording of the month" in Switzerland.
Recently Botvinov explores new ways of presenting classical music. Among his new innovative projects there is "Visual Reality of Music", where music and visual effects have converted a traditional concert into an amazing multimedia mystery.

"4 elements" is a piano masterpieces by Alexey Botvinov such great composers as Tchaikovsky and Mozart, as well as the music of the late twentieth century authors: Philip Glass, James MacMillan, Astor Piazzolla, Morricone, Michel Legrand, Dave Grusin, who are at the crossroads between classical, jazz and rock. The action takes place against the backdrop of modern stage design, visual effects, accompanied by the Chamber Orchestra as well as with the participation of talented Ukrainian violinist Myroslava Kotorovych. This is a powerful modern light show with its score for each product, in which the emotional perception of musical energy delicately woven into the visualization of the four elements of nature in the 8-meter screen.

In October 2016, traditionally - in Odesa, the author introduced a new program called "four elements" in the continuation of the project "Music of Love».
Metropolitan premiere of "4 elements" concert will be held March 1, 2017 at the National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre.
