Taking a trip down memory lane and looking back at Ukraine's most successful entries in the Eurovision Song Contest, Ukraine first entered the contest in 2003 and rapidly became one of the most successful countries in the competition. In thirteen appearances at the Eurovision Song Contest, the country has never missed a Grand Final. Nine of those 13 entries have finished in the top 10, five have finished in the top three, and two have been winners.
From sand artists to drag acts, Ukraine has sent a variety of musical styles and performers to the Eurovision Song Contest over the years. Ukraine made its debut at the 2003 Eurovision Song Contest with the song Hasta la Vista performed by Oleksandr Ponomariov, finishing in 14th place. The next year Ruslana with her song Wild Dances took Europe by storm scoring the first victory for Ukraine in the Eurovision Song Contest.

We’re still almost two months from Eurovision 2017 but already the betting is hotting up before the finalists have even taken shape. The countries involved in Eurovision are almost done with selecting their acts for the song contest in a bid to take the Eurovision 2017 crown in Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv on 13th May. The bookies’ odds compilers are already hard at work to decide who the early favourites and rank outsiders are likely to be when the finalists embark on Kyiv’s International Exhibition Centre. Let’s take a look at who the bookmakers think are in with a genuine chance of success, the potential dark horses and those who might as well not even turn up.
Every year there is always particular interest in the act representing the host country of the Eurovision Song Contest and this year is no exception. As we can see, the band from Ukraine O Torvald is not even in potential TOP 5. However, the band is very hot right now in Ukraine. They are currently on their promotional tour through 22 cities and have just released the new album. O.Torvald is composed of lead singer Zhenia Halych, guitarist Denys Myziuk, drummer Sasha Solokha, bass guitarist Mykyta Vasyliev, and DJ Polarnik. The band was founded in the city of Poltava but relocated to Kyiv in 2006 where they began performing to large venues with thousands of spectators. They released their first album in 2008. Hopefully, Ukrainian rock band will strengthen its position within following 2 months and will show an amazing performance in May.
Oleksandr Skichko, Volodymyr Ostapchuk, and Timur Miroshnychenko are announced to be the hosts for the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest. The appointment marks the first time in the history of the contest that the event will be hosted by three men; all of whom are familiar faces on Ukrainian television and come with a wealth of experience.

The 2017 Eurovision Song Contest will be held in the International Exhibition Centre in Kyiv. It is the largest venue of its kind in Ukraine with capacity for 11,000 spectators. The Semi-Finals will take place on Tuesday 9th and Thursday 11th May and the Grand Final will take place on Saturday 13th May. ickets for the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest are already on sale and available on-line.
