Vienna was one of the birthplaces of modernism at the beginning of the 20th century. Visual arts, literature, music, architecture and science experienced a new heyday. Something new and previously unseen was created, the change of time, the beginning of a new century, became clear in the artistic and also the scientific field.
Especially the creations of Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele reflect this change of time and the concentration on new things and ideas. The works of these two artists point to a steady development. The traveling exhibition of the Austrian foreign ministry ‘Gustav Klimt – Pioneer of Modernism’ gives an insight into the ideas of this outstanding artist, who died 100 years ago on the 6th of February 1918.
The first stop of the traveling exhibition is the Austria Library in Kharkiv. The exhibition will open on 16 February at 17:00 and there will be a presentation about Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele as well.
