New Airline Routes and Offers in Ukraine: December 2018

Low-cost airlines steadily continue to launch more flights to and from Ukraine. Some of them offer getaways for winter holidays 2018-19 to various cities in Europe and the US. Besides, the new express train from Kyiv to Boryspil now operates according to a new schedule.

Kyiv-Boryspil expressThe long-awaited Kyiv-Boryspil express train was launched on November 30. Ukrzaliznytsia has reported that 6 thousand passengers have already used the train. The route and schedule, however, are different than planned initially.

Firstly, the train will maintain the route Kyiv-Passazhyrskyi - Darnytsia - KBP Airport. Vydubychi is no longer included in the route. Starting December 4, the express will have fewer night trains. You can view the entire schedule at the official Ukrzaliznytsia website. The interval between the trains ranges from 22 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the time of the day. The express arrives in Boryspil Airport in approximately 38 minutes. The ticket price is UAH 80.

Ukrainian International Airlines introduced a Premium Economy Class on medium haul flights. According to the news on the official UAI website, the new class is designed for passengers who are interested in purchasing an all-inclusive package: the flight, checked baggage, onboard meals, and preferred seat choice. Premium Economy permits two checked bags, one hand luggage item and one personal item. Other features include priority boarding and minimum restrictions for flight time and date changes as well as full refund without penalties.

Bulgaria Air has canceled non-stop Odesa-Sophia flights, reports Avianews. Among the reasons the company noted the introduction of martial law in Ukraine, recommendations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the need to ensure the safety of passengers. The flights will not be operated at least until December 16.

On the more positive note, WizzAir is to resume the work of its subsidiary - Wizz Air Ukraine. According to the message on the official website of the company, Wizz Air Ukraine would establish an extensive low fare-low cost airline network in Ukraine by investing over US$ 2.5 billion through the deployment of a fleet of up to 20 brand new Airbus A320/321 aircraft across a number of operating bases in Kyiv and regional centers in Ukraine. The company aims at carrying around 6 million passengers a year by 2025. Based on the meeting that took place on November 21 and understanding of the agreement's conditions, Wizz Air Ukraine would target to be a licensed Ukrainian airline already next year, in 2019.

New flights

Airplane's wingLow-cost airlines continue introducing more and more flights to and from Ukraine. Thus, Ryanair will add flights to Kyiv from five cities - Dublin, Sofia, Paphos, Manchester and Athens - in summer 2019 schedule, reports Forbes. The ticket price starts at €5 and booking is available in the Ryanair app.

Ukrainian low-cost airlines SkyUp will add 9 new flights, both domestic and international. According to the message on the official website of the company, the flights are the following:

  • Kyiv - Batumi (starting at UAH 1 527)
  • Kyiv - Larnaca (starting at UAH 1 527)
  • Kyiv - Rimini (starting at UAH 2 638)
  • Kyiv - Naples (starting at UAH 2,638)
  • Kyiv - Sicily, Catania (starting at UAH 2 638)
  • Kyiv - Alicante (starting at UAH 2 499)
  • Kyiv - Tenerife (starting at UAH 5 164)
  • Kyiv - Odesa (starting at UAH 499)
  • Odesa - Kharkiv (starting at UAH 499)

The flights will be launched in 2019, starting March-June. The tickets are available for booking at skyup.aero.

WizzAir adds new flights from Ukraine as well. According to the official company website, WizzAir is to introduce flights Kyiv-Kraków and Kharkiv-Kraków in 2019. The flight from Kraków to Kyiv will be launched on April 4 and will be operated three times a week on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. The flight to Kharkiv will be launched on September 16 and will be operated twice a week on Monday and Friday. The ticket price starts at UAH 459 (Kharkiv) and UAH 609 (Kyiv). Booking is available at wizzair.com.

In case you miss the sun and heat, Kiwi.com can suggest a winter getaway. The price for WizzAir non-stop flight Kyiv-Larnaca starts at €62 for a round trip in January 2019. The example of the trip is 4 nights in Larnaca from January 22 to January 26. The Basic class ticket allows a free carry-on bag (40x30x20 cm) in the cabin.

One more winter holiday getaway option is possible with Ryanair. The prices for a non-stop Kyiv-London flight in December 2018 - January 2019 start at €29 for a round trip. For instance, you can spend 10 nights in London from December 27 until January 6. The Standard Fare ticket allows 1 small personal bag (40x20x25 cm) on board.
