Folk costumes of the 19th century, workshops, a cappella singing by Nina Matvienko and famous guests - on November 14, the opening of a photo exhibition as part of the charity project "Щирі. Свята" was held at the Ivan Honchar Museum. Visitors are welcomed to explore traditional Ukrainian fashion captured in photos.
Щирі ("Sincere") is a charity project that takes place for the third time in Ukraine. In 2014, Domosphera shopping mall launched a charitable initiative - 15 celebrities dressed in traditional attire were photographed to popularize Ukrainian traditions. The project soon gained so much attention that the next year, guests and donors were offered calendars with photographs, where each photo represents a month of the year. In 2018, the theme of the calendar is "Holidays".
The exhibition opening was attended by participants of the project: TV presenters Lyudmila Barbir, Masha Efrosinina, members of the Dakh Daughters group Natalya Galanevich and Solomiya Melnik, People’s Artist of Ukraine Nina Matvienko, as well as singer Natalka Karpa and dancer Yevhen Kot. Nina Matvienko sang a Christmas carol a capella, and members of the group Dakh Daughters performed a traditional spring song.Guests have a chance to see all 12 photographs - 12 stories about the 19th century festive attire from different regions of Ukraine. Singer Tina Karol, Jamala, Nina Matvienko, TV presenters Masha Efrosinina, Lesya Nikityuk, Prima Ballerina of the National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater Ekaterina Kukhar and others took part in the photoshoot.
This year's profit from the sale of the calendar will be donated for the reconstruction of Ivan Honchar Museum. You can buy the calendar at the exhibition, online or in the following stores: Folkmart, Narodny Dim Ukraine, Yakaboo, Bukva. There is an opportunity to purchase an exclusive calendar autographed by a celebrity-participant of the project.
