Illegal logging is one of the most pressing issues in Ukraine that is especially prominent during the winter holidays. Each year, hundreds of pines and other trees are cut and transported illegally and then sold without any licenses in all regions of Ukraine. This year, state administrations have published lists of verified locations where you can buy a legal Christmas tree. Besides, the trees even have a chip and a sticker with a barcode that lets the owner check the birthplace and age of the tree.
Kyiv
Kyiv City Administration has announced that the capital will have 190 locations for selling natural coniferous trees from December 15 until December 31. The trees were transported from forest farms in Sumy, Kyiv, Zhytomyr and Poltava regions. All trees will be chipped and will have an ecological passport as well as a forestry certificate. In addition to chips, the trees will have stickers that contain an individual number and the corresponding bar codes registered in the electronic system of wood conversion in Ukraine. Lviv
Lviv City Administration has the list of locations where you can legally buy a Christmas tree from December 18, 2018, to January 6, 2019. The locations are appointed by Lviv City Administration to supervise the legal sale of Christmas trees in the city. The list is the following:

As for Odesa, the official website of Odesa Regional Forestry and Hunting gives a list of locations that are mostly situated in Odesa region out of the city. One of the closest spots to Odesa is State Enterprise "Odessa Forestry" located at 77, Chornomorska Street in the Velykodolynske village. Other locations include but aren't limited to:

- 4, Melnychenko Street (Podilsk)
- 1, Soborna Street (Sarata)
- 1, Zarichna Street (Berezivka)
Each tree will be tagged with a barcode sticker. Given that the locations of legal tree sale in Odesa require car trips, it's better to invest in a fake tree instead. Note that the trees sold in Odesa that aren't marked with a barcode are illegally cut and transported.
