Kyiv
The capital will traditionally meet Independence Day with a military parade on Khreshchatyk. This year, 4.5 thousand military personnel and 250 units of equipment will march the main street of Kyiv. The city center will turn into a huge festive location: for instance, an all-Ukrainian festival competition "You are in my heart, Ukraine!" will take place at Spivoche Pole in Pechersky Landscape Park. Visitors will have a chance to enjoy a live concert of classical music "Classic Picnic" in Shevchenko Park. Kyiv City Administration will be engaged in festivities as well. Kyiv River Port invites everyone to witness sailing regatta, dedicated to the Independence Day of Ukraine. The event will take place at pier #6.
The festive celebrations, however, won’t be limited just by the center of the city: a traditional Vyshyvanka Race will take place on Rysanivska Quay, stretching all the way to the Dnipro Embankment. Festive events will also take place in recreational parks on the left bank of Kyiv, namely "Victory", "Partisan Glory", "Hydropark" and Central Park of Culture and Leisure. Finally, the night of the Independence Day 2018 in Kyiv will be marked by Okean Elzy concert at Olympiiskyi Stadium. Luckily, public transport, including metro, will work two hours longer for convenient navigating the city. Note that exits from Maidan Nezalezhnosti and Khreshchatyk metro stations to Institutska Street will be temporarily closed on August 24 from 8 A.M. till the end of celebrations.
