This month in Odesa is full of jazzy pieces, chamber music and even the Wedding March - pick yours.

Animato Foundation: Violin


Charity Foundation Animato was founded in September 2016 to support young talents of classical music. The project is fueled by Maxim and Viorika Dedikov, who have taken the long way in the world of music. In 2008, Maxim was honored to perform for the royal family of England and in 2012 he was awarded the honorary title of the best cellist of the year by Queen of Spain Sofia herself. Viorika was honored to play the 1714 Philius-Andrea Guarneri violin in 2008-2012. This February, the project team will present a program for violin and cello in Odesa's Urban Music Hall.

Mylah (USA) & Groove Band


The Atlanta native Mylah Windham is the rising star of the American soul scene. Her musical résumé boasts touring with Grammy nominees Lauryn Hill and Anthony David and co-organizing The Revival, a musical project by Bryan Michael Cox. Composers and producers behind Beyonce, Mariah Carey, Enrique Iglesias and Jennifer Lopez write songs for Mylah and sound producer for Madonna and The Black Eyed Peas Keith Harris works on her sound. The evening's program will include songs of Aretha Franklin and Farrell Williams, Stevie Wonder and Prince, Michael Jackson and Adele, as well as the original songs by the singer.

Mendelssohn in the Saint Paul Cathedral


In 2019, the world celebrates the 210th anniversary of Felix Mendelssohn's birthday. Born on February 3, 1809, Felix Mendelssohn planted his name in the history of classical music with numerous symphonies, concertos as well as chamber music. Moreover, his Wedding March is one of the most recognizable music pieces in the world. The main organist of St. Paul's Cathedral, Veronika Struk, will be accompanied by leading soloists - Natalia Mazepa (violin), Vasily Dobrovolsky (baritone), Marina Godulyan (contralto), Yulia Timakova (soprano). Together, the artists will perform the masterpieces of the great German genius.

Valentine's Day. Tango Music Project


Tango Music Project was founded in 2016 by members of Odesa Opera House orchestra. Together they explore the fiery tango, luring in visitors with passionate rhythms. The project team has already performed in Poland, Switzerland and the Netherlands and now will return to native Odesa with a festive program for Saint Valentine's Day.

IMAGO Project. Faun's Dream

Man playing the pianoThe IMAGO Project is fueled by a simple notion - doing what you love. This time, the team will present a new concert program inspired by numerous cultures around the globe: the audience will recognize Scandinavian motifs, jazz elements and even Slavic melodies.

Carmen


The four-act opera Carmen based on the similarly named novel of Prosper Mérimée, first played in 1845 under the name “Carmen and toreador” in the setting of ballet-master Marius Petipa in Madrid. But when Georges Bizet composed his original music to “Carmen” in 1875, it instantly became an integral part of the play. The opera tells the love story of freedom-loving, passionate and reckless gypsy Carmen and young soldier Jose, who has become a defector and a smuggler for the sake of his beloved woman.

Vivaldianno. The City of Mirrors


The world-famous 3D show featuring stars of classical music returns to Ukraine. The audience will have a chance to dive into the history of life and art of Antonio Vivaldi via a 3D performance. The guests will learn about the hopes and disappointments of the Baroque era genius. The show is a unique combination of music, theatre and dance arts combined with modern technologies. The performance mixes classic and rock music, ballet and Brazilian dances accompanied by impressive visual effects.
